(WARRENSBURG, Mo.) – No. 7 Central Missouri Jennies soccer rolled to its seventh straight win with a 4-0 victory over Missouri Western at home tonight. The Jennies set a new record with this win as they now have started a season for the first time in program history going 7-0-0.
Central Missouri outplayed the Griffons the whole game, dominating the ball and playing tough on both sides. UCM took 13 shots in the game to MWSU's four.
The Jennies got on the board in the 22
nd minute with a goal by sophomore
Kayla Shain. She kicked it in the net off a block by the Griffon goalie for her fourth goal of the season.
Eight minutes later the Jennies added another goal by junior
Cara Hennahane as she took the ball down the field and kicked it passed an outstretched net minder. That was Hennahane's first goal of the season.
After the half, Central Missouri laid on the pressure by scoring another goal in the 62
nd minute. Freshman
Becky Lackey received a pass by freshman
Kristin Bright and kicked it into the net. Lackey recorded her second goal of the season and Bright collected her third assist on the play.
Late in the game, the Jennies scored another goal after a corner kick. The ball came just out of the box and off of senior
Lexie Bristow who kicked it back in to allow junior
Sharaya Sidebottom to chip it in. With the goal, Sidebottom collected her third score and Bristow garnered her first assist.
Freshman
Brooke Cooley played the majority of the game in net, collecting the win and saving two shots. Sophomore
Linnsie McMahan played the last 15 minutes in net, facing no shots.
The Jennies will return to action on Thursday when they head to Emporia State. Opening whistle is slated for 4:00 p.m. from TRYSA Complex in Emporia, Kan.
