No. 7 Jennies Soccer Rolls to a 2-0 Shutout over Lions

(WARRENSBURG, Mo.) –  For the fourth consecutive meeting the No. 7 Central Missouri Jennies soccer team shutout the Lions of Missouri Southern. UCM won by a 2-0 score at a wet and windy Jennies Field tonight.
     
      With this win the Jennies tied a program-best start to a season and are now 6-0 overall and 4-0 in the MIAA. They also have continued their undefeated home streak, which now sits at 18 regular season games.
 
      Central Missouri scored early and held on to the lead as freshman midfielder Becky Lackey recorded her first collegiate goal. In the 12th minute of the game she kicked the ball into the net past the MSSU goalie. Sophomore forward Aaryn Burke collected her first assist of the season on the play.
 
      In the last minute of action, UCM scored another goal as a Missouri Southern defender turned  the ball over in the box. Junior forward Sharaya Sidebottom forced the turnover and kicked it in for her second score of the season.
 
      Freshman net minder Brooke Cooley recorded her fourth win and second shutout of the season in goal, saving six shots.
 
      Central Missouri took 20 shots tonight, 10 on goal to the Lions six shots, all on goal. The Jennies also had six corner kicks to MSSU's zero.
 
      The Jennies will be back in action on Saturday when they host Missouri Western (0-4-2, 0-2-2 MIAA). Opening whistle is slated for 7:00 p.m. from Jennies Field at South Recreation Complex in Warrensburg, Mo.
