Jared Schatz is in his second year as a graduate assistant in 2018-19. He first joined the cross country and track and field coaching staff as a volunteer assistant in 2016-2017. 

He was a big help in getting the Mules Cross Country team back to the NCAA National Championship meet in 2017 and a second-place finish at the MIAA Championships. He also helped UCM to four All-Conference awards in the distance races on the track. 

Schatz is a 2016 graduate of Messiah College located in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. During his time at Messiah he was a four-year member of both the Falcon's cross country and track and field teams qualifying for three NCAA Division III national events (1x Cross Country, 2x Track and Field).

On the track, Schatz's primary event was the 3000 meter steeplechase in which he was a two-time NCAA qualifier. In the spring of his senior season, Schatz finished out his collegiate career with a sixth place finish at the NCAA Championship Meet earning All-American Honors. 

Schatz received his undergraduate degree in Health and Exercise Science, and is currently working towards his Master's degree in Kinesiology with a concentration in Exercise Science.
