John McMenamin begins his fifth season as the offensive coordinator at Central Missouri in 2019.

The Mules offense had a breakout year in 2017, finishing as the No. 2 offense in the country. Central Missouri averaged 524.4 yards per game on the offensive side of the ball, the second most in team history. The Mules also set the No. 1 and No. 2 marks for total yards in a game, totaling 726 against Missouri Southern and 720 against Northeastern State. McMenamin helped quarterback Brook Bolles who led the nation in total offense with 360.2 yards per game and was second in total passing yards with 3,766, third most in team history. Bolles also set a new Mules record with eight straight 300 yard passing games. The Mules were just as successful rushing the ball, setting a school record with 37 rushing touchdowns. With 206.1 yards per game on the ground, the Mules were third in the MIAA in rushing. Freshman Devante Turner led the league with 17 rushing downs and was named the MIAA Freshman of the Year.

Despite injuries, McMenamin's offense was still a force in the MIAA. The Mules totaled an MIAA-best 466.2 yards per game and scored 34.7 points per game, second in the league. With a backup quarterback, UCM still had the second-best passing attack in the MIAA with 291.1 yards per game. The Mules had two of the top-seven wideouts in the MIAA. Kyrion Parker averaged 81.9 yards per game and scored 12 touchdowns. Shae Wyatt hauled in 42 passes for 769 yards and scored three times.

In 2016, his UCM offense was tops in the MIAA and ninth nationally in passing while also ranking third in the league in scoring and total offense and fifth in rushing. Eight offensive players were named to the All-MIAA Team with wide receiver Jaylen Zachery and offensive lineman Derrick Puni earning First Team nods. Four offensive players earned All-Region honors with three; Puni, Zachery and quarterback Garrett Fugate earning All-America honors.

In his first season in 2015, the Mules had the No. 2 total offense in the MIAA and 22nd nationally. UCM was third in the league in passing and scoring and fourth in the conference in rushing. Nine offensive players earned All-MIAA honors, three players earned All-Region honors, and tight end Ian Toalson was named an Honorable Mention All-American.

McMenamin came to UCM after spending the previous four seasons as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Wayne State (Neb.).

McMenamin’s 2014 offense at Wayne State ranked in the top 25 in NCAA-II in seven different offensive categories and had five All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference players. Quarterback Zach Osborn was second in the league in passing yards and led the conference in total offense. He coached 16 All-NSIC players during his time at Wayne State.

Prior to arriving at Wayne State, McMenamin served as offensive coordinator at Midland University in Fremont, Nebraska, from 2009-2010 where he helped turn around a Warrior program that went 8-3 in 2010 while finishing No. 22 nationally in NAIA. It was the school’s most successful football season in the last 16 years.

McMenamin was credited with making Midland University one of the top rushing teams in NAIA football, ranking as high as 12th in 2009. He also served as an assistant coach at Nebraska-Omaha from 2006-08. He was hired as wide receivers coach in 2006 before being promoted to quarterbacks coach in the spring of 2007.

McMenamin also has high school coaching experience, serving as the offensive coordinator at Omaha Central High School in 2004 before moving to the college ranks.
