Fergerson Leads RV Jennies Volleyball Past Northwest Missouri Tuesday

WARRENSBURG, Mo. – The receiving votes Central Missouri Jennies (12-6, 4-1 MIAA) swept the Northwest Missouri Bearcats (5-8, 2-1 MIAA), by final scores of 25-19, 25-21, 25-14, during Get the Red Out, on Tuesday, Sept. 29, inside the Jerry M. Hughes Athletics Center in Warrensburg.
 
The Jens took the opening frame of the match with a six-point victory, capped off by a solo block from Bella Holcomb (match-high 25 assists and eight digs overall), as Central Missouri converted 15 of 20 sideout attempts (75-percent) for good measure.
 
After doubling their advantage with a 25-21 victory in the second, the Jens completed their seventh sweep of the season in the third, highlighted by six kills on 10 swings (.500 hitting percentage) from outside hitter Maya Fergerson.
 
Fergerson, a native of Blue Springs, Mo. led the way with 14 kills, adding four digs, and two blocks overall as UCM outhit the Bearcats by a margin of .257 to .000 in the frame.
 
Junior Grace Wagers had seven kills on 17 swings (.412 attack percentage) and three blocks, while Ashlynn Jaccard (three blocks) and Shaye Koski (two blocks) ended play with five kills each.
 
The Jens outhit Northwest Missouri by a margin of .226 to .078 on the night, thanks to a career-high six total blocks and four kills from sophomore Bria Dawson, while middle blocker Kaelyn McDonald posted four blocks, four digs, and three kills in the winning effort.
 
Defensively in the back row, Central Missouri was paced by libero Ragin Corwin's 16 digs, adding three assists, plus senior Kirsten Harper collected 12 digs and had a match-best three service aces.
 
Freshman Chloe Rauner had eight assists, eight digs, and a pair of kills, while Aurora, Colo. native Brenna Kelly collected six digs on the night as the Jens improved to 7-2 in three-set matches on the year.
 
The Jens continue MIAA play on Friday, Oct. 2, as they host No. 8 Missouri Western Griffons (13-1, 3-0 MIAA), during Cancer Awareness Night, with first serve beginning at 6:00 p.m., inside the Jerry M. Hughes Athletics Center in Warrensburg.
