WARRENSBURG, Mo. – The receiving votes Central Missouri Jennies (10-5, 2-0 MIAA) swept the Maryville Saints (7-6, 2-0 GLVC) by final scores of 25-22, 25-20, 25-23, Tuesday, Sept. 22, during the 50
th Anniversary Celebration of the Jerry M. Hughes Athletics Center in Warrensburg.
With the opening set tied at 19, Central Missouri began a 4-1 run, highlighted by a pair of kills from Parkville, Mo. native
Shaye Koski (13 kills and four blocks overall) en route to a 25-22 victory in the frame.
The Jens doubled their advantage with a five-point win in the second, thanks to a set-best six kills on seven swings (.857 hitting percentage) from senior
Maya Fergerson. Fergerson, a native of Blue Springs, Mo. ended the night with a match-high 16 kills on 22 attempts (.591 attack percentage) for good measure.
Between sets two and three, UCM Athletics recognized former Associate Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Kathy Anderson for her contributions to Jennies athletics in recognition of 50 years of play inside the Jerry M. Hughes Athletics Center, formerly known as the Multipurpose Building.
Central Missouri completed their third consecutive sweep, and 10
th win of the year in the third as the Jens outhit Maryville in the match by a margin of .336 to .265 as middle blockers
Kaelyn McDonald (match-high five blocks) and
Grace Wagers (two blocks) posted seven kills each.
Freshman
Chloe Rauner had 21 assists and seven digs, while Andover, Kan. native
Bella Holcomb contributed 20 assists and three digs in the winning effort.
Two Jens finished the night with double-figure digs, including a career-high 20 from junior
Brenna Kelly, while libero
Ragin Corwin collected 18 digs, adding three assists.
Senior
Kirsten Harper had six digs and two assists, plus middle blocker
Bria Dawson posted five kills on 13 swings (.385 hitting percentage) in the winning effort.
The Jens continue MIAA play on Friday, Sept. 25, as they travel to Edmond, Okla., for a match-up with the receiving votes Central Oklahoma Bronchos (10-5, 0- MIAA), with first serve beginning at 5:00 p.m., inside Hamilton Field House.
