CARY, N.C. – No. 4-seeded University of Central Missouri Mules Baseball saw its 2026 season come to an end after falling to the No. 5-seeded University of Texas at Tyler Patriots, 11-7, in an NCAA Division II World Series elimination game on Tuesday, June 2, at the USA Baseball National Training Complex.
The Mules wrap up their season with an overall record of 40-17 and as NCAA Division II Central Region Champions for the third consecutive season. UCM also advanced to the World Series for the 22nd time in program history, and set a new single-season record for stolen bases with 202 on 238 attempts, which broke the previous mark of 197 set back in 2024.
The game was tied, 1-1, before the Patriots (50-13) scored a run in the top of the third inning, three in the fifth, and six in the eighth while limiting the Mules to just one run in the bottom of the seventh and five in the bottom of the ninth for the 11-7 win.
Cole Kreisel went 3-for-3 with a run and two RBI, and
Grant Hollister and
Brock Kobel each had two hits, leading Central Missouri at the plate.
UCM starting pitcher
Greyson Chappel (2-3) suffered the setback on the mound after giving up three earned runs on five hits with two strikeouts and five walks in four innings of work.
For the game, UT Tyler outhit UCM, 17-11.
