WARRENSBURG, Mo. – The Central Missouri Jennies (24-12, 7-5 MIAA) swept a pair of games against the (Receiving Votes) Rogers State Hillcats (25-13, 9-7 MIAA) winning by final scores of 7-5 and 5-2, on Saturday, April 4, during Meet the Jennies / Military Appreciation Day, from Jennies Field at the South Recreation Complex in Warrensburg.
The Jens continue MIAA play on Tuesday, April 7, as they host the Northeastern State RiverHawks (20-15, 7-7 MIAA) for a pair of games, with first pitch of game one slated for noon in Warrensburg.
Game 1: Central Missouri 7, RV Rogers State 5
After the Hillcats took a two-run lead in the top of the first,
Taylor Thompson cut the lead in half with an RBI single in the bottom of the inning.
RSU responded with a run in the third, before
Kyrsten Moran's RBI single in the fourth made it a 3-2 ballgame.
The Jens took the lead for good in the fifth, with a pinch-hit RBI double off the bat of
Jenna Little, scoring
Emma McCall and
Lexi Blackmon.
Jadyn Sheffield followed suit with an RBI double of her own plating Little and
Cydney Fullerton, making it 6-3 UCM.
Bailey Brumley plated the final run for the Jens in the ballgame with an infield single, before earning the victory in the circle, improving to 6-3 on the year, after
Riley Bebb slammed the door with her first save as a Jen, allowing just two hits in 1 2/3 innings of work.
Moran and Blackmon paced Central Missouri offensively, as both players recorded multi-hit games for good measure.
Game 2: Central Missouri 5, RV Rogers State 2
Rogers State opened the scoring a run in the opening frame, before
Marisa Johnson gave the Jens the lead with a two-run shot in the bottom of the fourth.
The Hillcats evened the ballgame with a solo shot in the top of the fifth, but Central Missouri regained the lead in the bottom of the inning with a Brumley RBI ground out that scored
Malia Bucksath.
With one on and nobody out in the bottom of the sixth, Johnson hit her team-leading 12
th round-tripper of the year, scoring
Aly Hageman.
Andi Siebeneck (9-4) earned the victory in the circle, while Bebb picked up her second save of the ballgame, tossing 2 2/3 innings of perfection while striking out a trio of Hillcats.
