KANSAS CITY, Mo. – For the second straight week and third time this season, University of Central Missouri Jennies Basketball's
Reese Schaaf has been voted the MIAA Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week, it was announced on Monday, March 2, by the conference office.
A senior guard/forward from El Dorado Springs, Mo., Schaaf averaged a double-double with 20.5 points and 14.5 rebounds per game in the Jennies' two victories over Missouri Southern and Pittsburg State last week.
Against Missouri Southern on Wednesday, Feb. 25, Schaaf scored 26 points and pulled down 14 rebounds, and added two steals before netting 15 points and snagging 15 rebounds in UCM's win over Pittsburg State on Senior Day Saturday, Feb. 28.
Entering postseason play, Schaaf has a team and MIAA-best 16 double-doubles.
The MIAA Regular Season Champion Jennies (23-5 overall, 17-2 MIAA) are the top seed in the MIAA Women's Basketball Tournament and will face either eighth-seeded Northeastern State or ninth-seeded Emporia State in the quarterfinals on Thursday, March 5, at noon at historic Municipal Auditorium in downtown Kansas City, Mo.
