EDMOND, Okla. – The No. 14 Central Missouri Mules Wrestling Team fell 37-7 to the No. 1 Central Oklahoma Bronchos on Feb. 15th at Hamilton Fieldhouse. With the win, Central Oklahoma officially clinched the MIAA conference title.
The dual began at 125, where Eli Kirk earned a 17-4 major decision over
Karim Allal to give UCO the early lead. At 133, Jason Henschel extended that lead with an 18-0 technical fall against
Drew Stanfield, followed by Josh Taylor securing an 8-1 decision over No. 10
James Wright at 141.
Trey Dillow provided the first spark for the Mules at 149, capturing a 7-2 decision over Cole Mayfield to put UCM on the board. However, the Bronchos responded at 157 with Gabe Johnson earning an 18-3 technical fall over
Ayden Dolt.
UCM found success again at 165, as No. 5
Gage Bernall dominated Bryce Dauphin in an 11-2 major decision. That would be the final victory for the Mules, as the Bronchos swept the remaining four weights.
At 174, Hunter Jump secured a fall at 5:58 against
Anthony Erickson, and Branson Britten followed with a 15-0 technical fall over
Ayden Flores at 184. The Bronchos added another pin at 197 as Garrett Wells defeated
Trey Brewer in 2:20. The afternoon concluded at heavyweight with a narrow battle, where Ryan Nichols took a 4-2 decision over No. 14
Torin Forsyth.
Up Next, UCM will have a week off, before returning to Edmond, Oklahoma, on Feb. 28th for the NCAA-II Super Regional.Â
