The National Tenpin Coaches Association released its February Coaches Poll on Tuesday, Feb. 10, and the Central Missouri Jennies moved up to 23rd nationally in the National Collegiate Top 25.
The February rankings were shaped largely by the Northeast Classic after winter weather forced the cancellation of the Prairie View Invitational. With fewer results to evaluate, voters leaned heavily on recent tournament performances and the NTCA Power Index.
Central Missouri's rise into the Top 25 places the Jennies among a competitive group that includes Alabama-Birmingham, Duquesne, Bryant and Kutztown, reflecting steady progress throughout the season against a challenging national schedule.
At the top of the Division I-heavy poll, the Jacksonville State Gamecocks remained the unanimous No. 1 following their win at the Northeast Classic, while Vanderbilt and Arkansas State held firm at second and third, respectively.
UCM also continued its climb in the Division II/III Coaches Poll, checking in at No. 5 nationally. The Jennies moved into the top five after receiving votes in the preseason poll, solidifying their position among the nation's top non-Division I programs.
The Maryville Saints once again topped the Division II/III rankings, followed by McKendree and Newman. Saint Vincent and Central Missouri rounded out the top five, with Kutztown, Carroll and Wisconsin–Whitewater also appearing in the top ten.
Central Missouri returns to action this weekend at the Vikings Invite, hosted by Augustana College, from Feb. 13–15 in Bettendorf, Iowa. Competition begins Friday at 10 a.m. as the Jennies look to build on their momentum following their rise in the national rankings.
