RV Jennies Volleyball Falters at No. 13 Washburn Tuesday

TOPEKA, Kan. – The receiving votes Central Missouri Jennies (12-8, 4-2 MIAA) fell to No. 13 Washburn Ichabods (17-3, 5-1 MIAA), by a final score of 1-3 (25-22, 11-25, 12-25, 17-25) on Tuesday, Oct. 6, inside Whiting Fieldhouse in Topeka, Kan.
 
The Jens opened play with a 6-1 run, highlighted by three kills from outside hitter Maya Fergerson, en route to a three-point victory in the set. Fergerson, a native of Blue Springs, Mo., ended the match with 10 kills and three digs.
 
Washburn responded with wins in straight sets, improving to 17-3 on the year, highlighted by Lauren Tyler's double-double performance.
 
Middle blocker Kaelyn McDonald paced the Jens with 10 kills and posted a team-best five total blocks on the night, while junior Ashlynn Jaccard recorded seven kills on 14 swings (.357 hitting percentage) for good measure.
 
Sophomore Ragin Corwin collected a match-high 24 digs, adding three assists, plus Bella Holcomb (match-best 22 assists), Chloe Rauner (14 assists and two blocks), and Brenna Kelly ended play with seven digs each.
 
Overland Park, Kan. native Bria Dawson had five kills and two blocks, while senior Kirsten Harper finished the match with five digs.
 
The Jens continue MIAA play on Friday, Oct. 9, as they host the Missouri Southern Lions (6-11, 1-5 MIAA), during Salute to Service night, with first serve beginning at 6:00 p.m., inside the Jerry M. Hughes Athletics Center in Warrensburg.
