RV Jennies Volleyball Falls in Four to No. 8 MoWest Friday

WARRENSBURG, Mo. – The receiving votes Central Missouri Jennies (12-7, 4-2 MIAA) fell to No. 8 Missouri Western Griffons (14-1, 4-0 MIAA), by a final score of 1-3 (25-23, 15-25, 24-26, 20-25) during Cancer Awareness Night, on Friday, Oct. 2, inside the Jerry M. Hughes Athletics Center in Warrensburg.
 
The Jens tied the opening frame at nine, beginning a 6-2 run, highlighted by a pair of service aces from senior Kirsten Harper (five digs and three aces overall), and capped off by a pair of kills from Blue Springs, Mo. native Maya Fergerson (match-high 14 kills overall).
 
Missouri Western responded with victories in straight sets, improving to 14-1 overall, and 4-0 in MIAA play, led by Katelyn Diani-O'Day's double-double performance.
 
Two Jens ended the night with double-figure kills, including sophomore Bria Dawson with 10 kills on 23 swings (.348 hitting percentage), adding a career-best nine total blocks, including a career-high eight block assists for good measure.
 
Defensively in the back row, Central Missouri was paced by libero Ragin Corwin's career-high 31 digs, while junior Brenna Kelly added 12 digs, and setter Bella Holcomb (match-high 34 assists and three blocks overall) collected six digs.
 
Stilwell, Kan. native Grace Wagers (five blocks and four digs overall) and outside hitter Shaye Koski (three blocks and three digs overall) ended the match with eight kills each, as the Jens recorded 12.5 team blocks to Missouri Western's nine on the night.
 
Freshman Chloe Rauner recorded her 18th double-digit assist match of the year, adding four digs, while Lee's Summit, Mo. native Kaelyn McDonald had five kills, three blocks, and two digs.
 
The Jens continue MIAA play on Tuesday, Oct. 6, as they take on No. 14 Washburn Ichabods (15-3, 4-1 MIAA), with first serve beginning at 6:00 p.m., inside Lee Arena in Topeka, Kan.
