ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – No. 18-ranked University of Central Missouri upped its winning streak to seven straight matches with a 2-1 victory over the Missouri Western State University Griffons in a MIAA match on Friday evening, Oct. 2, at Spratt Stadium.
The Jennies (9-1, 4-0 MIAA) are scheduled to travel to Maryville, Mo., for a conference match at Northwest Missouri State (1-7-2, 1-3-1 MIAA) on Sunday, Oct. 4, at 1 p.m.
Central Missouri gained a 1-0 lead in the 17th minute when
Hadley Lockhart slid a shot into the back of the net for her fourth goal of the season.
UCM doubled its advantage to 2-0 in the 70th minute after
Mikayla Ernst deflected a free-kick from
Emilee Person into the goal for her fourth goal of 2026 and Person's first assist of the season.
The Griffons pulled within 2-1 with a goal in the 72nd minute, but the Jennies' defense and goalkeeper
Kristen Wright kept MoWest from finding an equalizer, sealing the victory.
Wright (9-1) earned the win in-goal after allowing one goal while making two saves in 90 minutes.
For the match, UCM outshot MWSU (5-2-4, 2-2-1 MIAA), 13-8, including a 7-3 advantage in shots on goal. The Jennies also bested the Griffons in corner kicks, 8-3.
Kendall Knisley tallied Missouri Western State University's goal, pacing MoWest.
