MARSHALL, Minn. – The No. 17-ranked University of Central Missouri Mules wrestling team went 2-1 during the Iron Mike Duals on Friday, Jan. 10, in Marshall, Minn., on the campus of Southwest Minnesota State University.

The Mules (6-4) opened the day with a 20-13 setback to Northern State before responding with a dominant 46-3 victory over host Southwest Minnesota State and a 36-6 win over Sioux Falls.

Against Northern State, Central Missouri recorded four wins across the lineup. Drew Stanfield (133) earned a 4-2 decision over Teagan Block to put the Mules on the board, while No. 9 Gage Bernall (165) followed with an 11-0 major decision over Jacob Williams. No. 1 Damon Ashworth (184) added an 8-5 decision against No. 10 Brady Westall, and Torin Forsyth (285) closed the dual with a 5-0 decision over Nathan Schauer.

Central Missouri dropped six matches in the dual, as Karim Allal (125) fell by a 14-7 decision to No. 14 Sloan Johannsen, Braeden Moore (141) was defeated by Kolten Lhotak via major decision, No. 14 Garrett Lyons (149) dropped a 4-1 decision to No. 13 Rudy Lopez, Xerarch Tungjaroenkul (157) was defeated by Gavin Lundeen via tech fall, Anthony Erickson (174) fell by decision to Mason Fey, and Trey Brewer (197) was pinned by Riley Hirschkorn, allowing Northern State to secure the team victory.

The Mules rebounded in their second dual with a commanding performance against the host Southwest Minnesota State Mustangs, winning nine of the 10 bouts. Stanfield (133) earned a 17-0 tech fall victory over Chase Hanson to get the dual started before James Wright (141) picked up an 18-3 tech fall win over Bronson Richins. Lyons (149) added UCM's third straight tech fall victory at 18-2 over Brand Beaver, while Bernall (165) earned an 11-0 major decision over Wyatt Pollard. Erickson (174) posted a 23-7 tech fall triumph over DJ Rock, Ashworth (184) followed with a 17-2 tech fall against Mason Buss, Trey Brewer (197) pinned Xander Kenworthy, Forsyth (285) added a 16-1 tech fall over Evan Thompson, and Allal (125) wrapped up the dual with a fall at 4:33 against Preston Xayachak.

Central Missouri's lone loss in the dual came at 157 pounds, where Tungjaroenkul dropped a 9-6 decision to Tanner Condezo.

UCM closed the event with a 33-6 victory over Sioux Falls, winning eight of the 10 bouts. Central Missouri picked up its first victory in the dual when Trey Dillow (149) earned an 8-2 decision over Weston Sherlock before Bernall secured a perfect 3-0 mark on the day with a 12-4 major decision over Lincoln Fink at 165 pounds. Erickson (174) recorded a 17-0 tech fall against Ashtin Johnson, Ashworth (184) won via forfeit, Brewer (197), tallied a 21-11 major decision over Hank Meyer, Forsyth (285) finished his day 3-0 with a 5-0 decision over Stetson Davis, Allal pinned Vincent Mayberry, and Stanfield (133) posted a 19-3 tech fall against Bray Skinner, wrapping up the dual and giving him a perfect 3-0 mark in the duals.

Central Missouri dropped two bouts in the dual, as Moore (141) fell in sudden victory to Joe Oehme and Tungjaroenkul (157) dropped a decision to Carson Sanders.

Mules Wrestling returns to action at the annual Roger Denker Open on Sunday, Jan. 18, inside the Jerry M. Hughes Athletics Center in Warrensburg, Mo. Competition begins at 10:00 a.m.
