- No. 13-ranked Central Missouri Jennies Soccer kicks off its 2025 season with a pair of matches at The Pitch in Mankato, Minn., on Friday, Sept. 5, and Sunday, Sept. 7. UCM is scheduled to face the Augustana (S.D.) Vikings for the 2025 season opener at noon on Friday before taking on preseason No. 3-ranked Minnesota State at 3 p.m. on Sunday.
- Central Missouri is ranked No. 13 in the United Soccer Coaches Preseason Division II Poll and was picked as the preseason favorite in the MIAA Preseason Coaches' Poll.
- UCM returns five position starters and its starting goalkeeper from last season's squad that went 17-5-2 overall and 9-2-1 in the MIAA, including 2024 MIAA Freshman of the Year Izzy Joyce (8 G, 4 A, 20 Pts, 3 GW, 23 SOG, .451 SOG%), All-Central Region defender Laney Reishus (23 GS, 1,830 minutes,1 G, 1 A, 3 Pts), Second Team All-MIAA defender Mackenzie Smith (23 GS, 1,931 minutes, 1 G, 1 A, 3 Pts), defender Gracie Knight (23 GS, 1,714 minutes, 5 A, 5 Pts, 10 SOG, .714 SOG%), midfielder Anna Lack (15 GS, 1 G, 2 Pts, 8 SOG, .533 SOG%) and Third Team All-MIAA goalkeeper Kristen Wright (23 GS, 1,950 minutes, 17-5-2, 9 SHO, 14 GA, 98 SV, 0.65 GAA, 0.875 SV%).
- Joyce ranked sixth in the MIAA in goals (8), seventh in points (20) and ninth in shots on goal (23) while Knight was seventh in assists (5) and Wright was second in saves (98), and third in goals-against average (0.65) and shutouts per game (.375).
Preseason Picks
- Jennies Soccer was voted No. 1 in the MIAA Preseason Coaches' Poll for the 2025 season.
- UCM received 132 points and four first-place votes in the poll.
Home Sweet Home
- Dating back to the 2016 season, the Jennies are 89-7-2 at the South Recreation Complex. During that span, UCM has surrendered just 66 goals.
- All-time at the South Recreation Complex, UCM is 164-17-9 under head coach Lewis Theobald and 228-38-10 in overall program history. The Jennies have compiled undefeated home records five times.
New Faces for 2025
Series History
- Augustana: The Jennies and Vikings will meet for the 12th time in program history Friday in Mankato, Minn. UCM is 10-1-0 against Augustana in the all-time series. Central Missouri defeated Augie last season in Warrensburg, 4-2.
- Minnesota State: UCM and Minnesota State will meet for the 22nd time in the all-time series on Sunday in Mankato. The Jennies hold a 12-7-2 lead in the series. Central Missouri and Minnesota State met twice in 2024. The Jennies defeated the Mavericks during the regular season in Warrensburg Sept. 13, 1-0, before falling to Minnesota State, 1-0 in double overtime, in the NCAA-II Central Regional Championship Match Dec. 1 in Warrensburg.
Head Coach Lewis Theobald
Lewis Theobald, now in his 18th year, has transformed the Jennies Soccer program into one of the premier programs not only in the MIAA but also in NCAA Division II.
The 11-time MIAA and five-time region Coach of the Year enters the 2025 season with an impressive 308-51-27 record. He recorded more wins in his first three seasons than any other coach in school history and is the all-time winningest coach in both Jennies soccer and MIAA women's soccer history. He brought home the program's first-ever National Championship in the 2017 season.
Theobald enters the 2025 season as the winningest active coach in Division II women's soccer with an .833 winning percentage, among coaches with at least five years on the sidelines. He is also the all-time D-II leader among coaches with at least 10 years and is fifth all-time in all NCAA Divisions.

He also coached Dilkes, a goalkeeper, to a National Player of the Year honor during the 2017 season.
He has coached 142 All-Conference players, including Most Valuable Players Melanie Hall, Kayla Shain and two-time Player of the Year Alyssa Rhodes; Offensive Players of the Years Carly Stanley, Julie Ireland, Jada Scott, Kassie Newsom and Julia Kristensen; Freshmen of the Year Alyssa Rhodes, Stanley, Hannah Pyle, Alexis Robbers, Nicki Wisnasky,
Caroline Cole, Julia Kristensen and
Izzy Joyce; Defenders of the Year, Emily Eldridge, Allysa Gann, Cindy Lackey and Abby Rhodes; two-time Goalkeeper of the Year Lindsey Johnson and four-time Goalkeeper of the Year Ana Dilkes.
A 1999 graduate of the University of Kansas, Theobald received his bachelor's degree in education with a concentration in physical education.
On the Horizon
UCM travels to Allendale, Mich., for a pair of contests against preseason No. 16-ranked Ashland Friday, Sept. 12, and preseason No. 5-ranked Grand Valley State Sunday, Sept. 14.
