Jennies Volleyball Sweeps Fort Hays State Saturday

HAYS, Kan. – The (Receiving Votes) Central Missouri Jennies (8-3, 1-1 MIAA) swept the Fort Hays State Tigers (12-2, 1-1 MIAA) Saturday, Sept. 27, inside Gross Memorial Coliseum in Hays.    
 
Central Missouri began the match on a 7-2 run, highlighted by a pair of kills from Sedalia, Mo. native Emma Siron (eight kills and seven digs overall), en route to a 25-20 victory in the opening set.
 
The Jens continued their winning ways in set number two, taking a 2-0 lead in the match with another 25-20 victory led by four kills each from middle blocker Kaelyn McDonald (match-high 11 kills on 18 swings for a .444 hitting percentage, three digs, and two blocks overall) and Parkville, Mo. native Shaye Koski (match-high 11 kills and three blocks overall).
 
Siron opened the final set of the match with a service ace, and the Jens never relinquished, earning their eighth victory of the season, including their sixth win by sweep. Three UCM players ended the match with double-digit kills, including senior Rachel Ziesman, who had a match-high 11 kills on 20 swings (.400 hitting percentage), adding three total blocks.
 
Wesley Chapel, Fla. native Kayla Baer contributed a match-best 45 assists and six digs, while libero Grace Winkelmann paced the Jens defensively in the back row with a match-high 12 digs, adding two service aces and two assists in the winning effort.
 
Stilwell, Kan. native Grace Wagers ended the match with seven kills on 13 swings (.462 attack percentage) and two blocks overall as Central Missouri out-hit the Tigers by a margin of .348 to .207 on the afternoon. Defensive specialist Ragin Corwin had seven digs, plus, sophomore Brenna Kelly collected four digs in the winning effort.
 
Central Missouri continues the 2025 campaign on Tuesday, Sept. 30, as they host the Rockhurst Hawks (8-4, 1-0 GLVC) for Ronald McDonald House Charity Night. First serve is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. inside the Jerry M. Hughes Athletics Center in Warrensburg.
