WARRENSBURG, Mo. – The (Receiving Votes) Central Missouri Jennies (7-2, 0-0 MIAA) swept the Missouri S&T Miners (2-9, 0-0 GLVC) and the McKendree Bearcats (1-10, 0-0 GLVC) Saturday, Sept. 20, in the final day of the Comfort Inn Invitational inside the Jerry M. Hughes Athletics Center in Warrensburg.
Central Missouri begins MIAA play Friday, Sept. 26, taking on No. 5 Nebraska Kearney Lopers (13-0, 0-0 MIAA) at 6:00 p.m. from the Health & Sports Center in Kearney, Neb.
Match 1: (RV) Central Missouri 3, Missouri S&T 0
The Jens opened the match on an 8-2 run, highlighted by three kills from outside hitter
Shaye Koski (match-high 12 kills on 25 swings for a career-high .400 hitting percentage) en route to a 25-12 victory in the opening frame.
After doubling their advantage with a 25-20 win in the second, Central Missouri completed the sweep in the third, ending the match on a 6-1 run as they earned their sixth win of the season.
The Jens were led by a double-double performance from Gurnee, Ill. native
Maddie Wojdyla's 13 assists and a team-high 11 digs, while libero
Grace Winkelmann (six assists) and redshirt sophomore
Emma Siron (eight kills and two blocks) collected 10 digs each.
Setter
Kayla Baer had a match-high 22 assists and seven digs, plus freshman
Bria Dawson (two blocks) and Stilwell, Kan. native
Grace Wagers (two digs) recorded six kills each in the winning effort.
Central Missouri outhit the Miners by a margin of .274 to .155 in the match, thanks to a team-high three blocks, adding eight kills and four digs from
Kaelyn McDonald,.
Match 2: (RV) Central Missouri 3, McKendree 0
Central Missouri began the final match of the Comfort Inn Invitational with a 7-2 run before jumping out to a 1-0 lead with a 25-10 victory led by five kills on six swings (.667 attack percentage) from senior
Rachel Ziesman.
Ziesman, a native of Shawnee, Kan. ended the match with nine kills and a team-high five blocks for good measure.
The Jens picked up right where they left off in the second set with a kill from
Kayla Baer (team-best 21 assists and six digs), which capped off a 9-2 run as
Emma Siron (eight kills and seven digs overall) and
Bria Dawson (seven kills and two blocks overall) led the Jens offensively in the frame, contributing four kills each.
UCM completed their second sweep of the day with a 25-18 win in the third as opposite
Lauren Blake (four kills and three digs overall), Dawson, and Siron each collected three kills in the set.
Maddie Wojdyla had a career-high 11 assists, nine digs, and a career-best five service aces, while outside hitter
Shaye Koski ended the match with four kills and three blocks.
Three Jens finished the match with three kills each, including middle blocker

After the conclusion of the Comfort Inn Invitational, 13 players were named to the All-Tournament Team for their efforts.
