No. 2 Mules Baseball Falls to No. 3 Lenoir-Rhyne in NCAA-II World Series Sunday, 12-9

CARY, N.C. – The second-seeded University of Central Missouri Mules Baseball team fell to the No. 3 seed Lenoir-Rhyne University Bears, 12-9, in the second game of the NCAA-II College World Series Sunday evening, June 1, at the USA Baseball National Training Complex.

The Mules (44-12) will face sixth-seeded East Stroudsburg (41-15) in an elimination game of the double-elimination tournament Tuesday, June 3, at 12:30 p.m. CT (1:30 p.m. ET) in Cary.

Grant Hollister went 2-for-3 with a triple, three RBI and run while Jacob Steele was 1-for-4 with two runs, Isaiah Keller was 1-for-5 with two RBI, Chase Wilcox tallied two RBI, and Chase Heath and Vance Tobol each compiled two runs, pacing Central Missouri offensively in the game.

UCM starting pitcher Jack Kreisman (2-3) suffered the setback on the mound after allowing six earned runs on three hits with two strikeouts and two walks in one inning.

Sal Carricato went 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs and five RBI while Hogan Stallings was 1-for-2 with a grand slam and four runs batted in, leading Lenoir-Rhyne at the plate.

Bear starting pitcher William Girardi (13-2) earned the victory on the rubber, surrendering six runs – four earned – on four hits with four strikeouts and five walks in six innings while Gavin Marley picked up his 10th save of the season after throwing 2 2/3 innings in relief and giving up one earned run on no hits with six strikeouts and three walks.
