HAYS, Kan. – No. 5 Central Missouri Jennies (30-19, 14-10 MIAA) fell to No. 4 Missouri Southern Lions (37-16, 16-8 MIAA) by a final score of 9-5 Thursday, May 1, in the 2025 MIAA Softball Championship Quarterfinals from Fleharty Family Field in Hays, Kan.
After a lead-off single from
Lexi Blackmon and advancing to third off a sacrifice bunt from
Jadyn Sheffield, the Jens took a 1-0 lead with an RBI single up the middle from
Bailey Brumley. The Lions responded with three runs in the bottom of the inning, but UCM tied the game with back-to-back RBI singles from Blakcmon and
Jadyn Sheffield with two outs in the second.
Missouri Southern regained the lead with a run in the bottom of the second before adding four in the fourth, taking an 8-3 lead. The Jens cut the deficit to four with a two-run shot from
Morgan Shields in the top of the seventh but were unable to complete the comeback as Weimer (13-9) suffered the loss in the circle while Blackmon paced the Jens offensively going 3-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored for good measure.
