MARYVILLE, Mo. – No. 3-ranked Central Missouri Mules baseball scored 13 unanswered runs to rally from an early 10-4 deficit and defeat the Northwest Missouri State Bearcats, 17-10 in a midweek MIAA game Tuesday, April 15, at Bearcat Baseball Field.
The Mules (29-9, 20-6 MIAA) are scheduled to travel to Joplin, Mo., for a three-game MIAA series at Missouri Southern (21-17, 14-12 MIAA) April 17-19.
After falling behind 10-4 when Northwest Missouri State scored eight runs in the third inning, UCM plated four runs in the fourth, two runs each in the fifth and sixth, four runs in the seventh and one in the ninth while shutting down the Bearcats' bats enroute to the comeback victory.
Isaiah Keller nearly hit for the cycle, going 3-for-7 with a double, triple, his fifth homer of the season and five RBI while
Chase Wilcox was 4-for-5 with three doubles,
Jacob Steele was 3-for-7 with his sixth home run of 2025, a triple and three RBI, and
Dayvin Johnson was 2-for-4 with his ninth homer of the season and three runs batted in, leading Central Missouri at the plate in the game.
Brett Grupe added a double and drove in three runs, and
Vance Tobol and
Cody Moore each had two hits, respectively.
Wilcox's three doubles tied the UCM single-game record, which has now been set 22 times in program history.Â
UCM reliever
Sawyer Allen (3-0) earned the victory on the mound, allowing no earned runs on one hit with five strikeouts and one walk in three innings. Allen and fellow reliever
Jake Wilson teamed up to fire six scoreless innings out of the bullpen for the Mules, giving up just two combined hits and striking out a combined nine Bearcat batters.
Ashton Neuman was 3-for-4 with two doubles, pacing Northwest Missouri State (19-20, 13-13 MIAA) offensively.
Bearcat reliever Garrett Stoll (0-1) suffered the setback on the rubber, surrendering two unearned runs on one hit in 1 1/3 innings of work.
