WARRENSBURG, Mo. – No. 1-ranked Central Missouri Mules baseball fell to the Northwest Missouri State Bearcats, 13-4, in a midweek MIAA contest Tuesday, April 1, at Crane Stadium/Tompkins Field.
The Mules (22-8, 13-5 MIAA) are slated to host Emporia State (16-12, 9-8 MIAA) in a three-game MIAA series April 4-6 in Warrensburg.
The Bearcats scored a combined nine runs in the seventh, eighth and ninth innings to break a 4-4 tie enroute to their nine-run victory.
Cody Moore was a perfect 3-for-3 with a double and RBI while
Jacob Steele,
Vance Tobol and
Grant Hollister were each 2-for-4, pacing Central Missouri at the plate.
UCM reliever
Chase Taylor (0-1) suffered the setback on the mound after giving up two earned runs on two hits in a third of an inning.
Northwest Missouri State's (15-16, 9-9 MIAA) Dylan Huft was a perfect 5-for-5 with a double and triple, going along with three runs and three RBI, pacing the Bearcats in the batter's box.
NWMSU relief pitcher Landon Wells (1-1) earned the victory on the rubber, allowing no earned runs on just two hits with five strikeouts and two walks in 4 1/3 innings of work.
