WARRENSBURG, Mo. – No. 3-ranked Central Missouri Mules baseball fell to the No. 24-ranked Fort Hays State Tigers, 9-4, in the second game of a three-game MIAA series Saturday afternoon, March 29, at Crane Stadium/Tompkins Field.
The Mules (21-7, 12-4 MIAA) and Tigers (21-7, 16-3 MIAA) are scheduled to play the series finale of the three-game series Sunday, March 30, at 1 p.m. in Warrensburg.
The game was tied, 3-3, before Fort Hays State scored three runs in the seventh inning, two in the eighth and one in the ninth for 9-4 win.
Jacob Steele went 3-for-4 with two runs and a double while
Vance Tobol was 2-for-4 with a run, two RBI and double, and
Chase Wilcox was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI, leading UCM at the plate.
Central Missouri starting pitcher
Jack Kreisman (1-2) suffered the setback on the mound, surrendering four earned runs on four hits with four strikeouts and one walk in six innings.
Elliott Hermann went 3-for-4 with a double, home run and two RBI, and Tony Moore was 3-for-5 with three runs, a triple, and two RBI, pacing the Tigers in the batter's box.
Fort Hays State reliever Brandon Chavez (5-0) earned the victory on the rubber after giving up one earned run on two hits with four strikeouts and no walks in 4 2/3 innings of work.
