  • University of Central Missouri Jennies Basketball (1-1) is set to open the home portion of its 2025-26 schedule against the MSU Moorhead Dragons (1-1) on Tuesday, Nov. 18, at 11:30 a.m. inside the Jerry M. Hughes Athletics Center in Warrensburg.
  • UCM went 1-1 in its two season-opening games last week in Sioux Falls, S.D., falling to UMary Nov. 14, 65-55, before defeating Augustana (S.D.), 65-58.
  • Through two games, Central Missouri is paced by Reese Schaaf (19.5 ppg., 5.5 rpg., 2.0 apg., 3.0 spg., .536 FG%, .429 3Pt%, .750 FT%) and Taylor Weishaar (12 ppg., 5.0 rpg., 1.5 apg., 2 bpg., .308 FG%, .333 3Pt%, .750 FT%).
  • Freshman Hayden Heim is averaging a team-best seven rebounds per game through her opening two contests at UCM.
  • Coming into 2025-26, the Jennies welcome back four starters, including 2024-25 WBCA Honorable Mention All-American and MIAA Co-Newcomer of the Year Reese Schaaf (18.6 ppg., 10 rpg., 1.3 apg., .503 FG%, .300 3Pt%, .838 FT%), and All-MIAA selection Taylor Weishaar (12.7 ppg., 7.5 rpg., 1.1 apg., 2.1 bpg., .448 FG%, .333 3Pt%, .711 FT%).
  • Schaaf led the team and the MIAA in scoring and rebounding last season and tallied a team and conference-best 18 double-doubles. In addition, she scored in double figures in 31 of 32 games.
  • Weishaar paced the Jennies and the MIAA in blocks with 2.1 blocks per game in 2024-25.
  • Central Missouri also welcomes back Cierra Smith (7.4 ppg., 3 rpg., 1.3 apg., 1.2 spg.), Rylee Vierthaler (3.3 ppg., 1.8 rpg.), and Jolie Bonderer (2.3 ppg., 1.6 rpg.).
NEW FACES LAST TIME OUT: JENNIES DEFEAT AUGUSTANA (S.D.) ON THE ROAD SATURDAY
  • Reese Schaaf had 18 points and Taylor Weishaar added 14 points and eight rebounds, lifting Central Missouri Jennies Basketball to a 65-58 win over the Augustana University Vikings in the MIAA/NSIC Crossover on Saturday, Nov. 15, inside the Elmen Center.
  • UCM led 34-30 at halftime before outscoring Augustana in the third quarter, 20-10, to help secure its first win of the 2025-26 season.
  • Schaaf netted her 18 points on 7-for-13 shooting from the floor and a 3-of-4 showing at the free-throw line, while Weishaar went 5-of-13 from the field for her 14 points. Freshman Neely Schaaf also reached double figures, compiling 10 points on 4-of-5 shooting, and also dished out a game-best six assists.
  • For the game, the Jennies shot 39 percent from the field (24-of-61), 35 percent from three-point range (9-of-26), and 67 percent at the free-throw line (8-of-12). Central Missouri controlled the glass, outrebounding Augie, 42-37, and outscored the Vikings in the paint, 26-24.
  • Payton Hardy scored 14 points and Maliyah Elliott added 13 points, pacing Augustana (0-2).
PRESEASON PICKS
  • The Jennies were voted fourth in both the 2025-26 MIAA Preseason Coaches' Poll and MIAA Preseason Media Poll. UCM received 138 points and one first-place vote in the preseason coaches' poll and 271 points and four first-place votes in the preseason media poll.
FAMILY CONNECTION
  • The Jennies have two siblings on the 2025-26 roster in El Dorado Springs natives senior Reese Schaaf and freshman Neely Schaaf.
SLIFER AMONG THE BEST
  • Jennies Basketball 22nd season head coach Dave Slifer is ranked fifth in career victories in all of NCAA (Division I, II, III) with his 823 career wins in 36 years. In Division II, Slifer is second in career victories, trailing only Tom Shirley of Jefferson, who posted 905 victories in 43 years.
