TOPEKA, Kan. – No. 24 Central Missouri Jennies (14-4, 6-2 MIAA) fell to No. 2 Washburn Ichabods (18-1, 7-1 MIAA) by a final score of 3-0 (20-25, 21-25, 23-25) Thursday, Oct. 16, from Whiting Fieldhouse in Topeka.
After dropping the opening two sets of the match, the Ichabods completed the sweep with a 25-23 victory in the third, led by a match-high 12 kills from Austin Broadie.
Junior
Shaye Koski led the Jens offensively with 10 kills on 25 swings (.320 hitting percentage), while middle blockers
Kaelyn McDonald (match-high five blocks) and
Rachel Ziesman (two blocks) recorded nine kills each.
Setter
Kayla Baer ended the night with a match-best 35 assists, a team-high 12 digs, and three kills. Reigning MIAA Defensive Athlete of the Week
Grace Winkelmann collected 10 digs and three assists for good measure.
Sedalia, Mo. native
Emma Siron had nine digs, five kills, and two blocks, while sophomore
Brenna Kelly contributed six digs in the match.
No. 24 Central Missouri continues MIAA play Friday, Oct. 17, as they head to Emporia, Kan., for a match with the Hornets (15-3, 6-1 MIAA), beginning at 6:00 p.m. inside White Auditorium.
