WARRENSBURG, Mo. – Patsy O'Brien's goal less than two minutes into the match proved to be the game-winner as the No. 9 Central Missouri Jennies Soccer team shut out the Missouri Western State University Griffons, 1-0, Sunday afternoon, Oct. 12, at the South Recreation Complex.
The Jennies (7-2-3, 4-0-2 MIAA) are scheduled to travel to Edmond, Okla., for a MIAA match at Central Oklahoma (4-4-4, 2-2-2 MIAA) Friday, Oct. 17, at 7 p.m.
O'Brien, a sophomore forward from Prairie Village, Kan., crushed a pass from
Coryn Jespersen into the back of the net at 1:49 into the match to give Central Missouri the 1-0 lead. It was O'Brien's third goal and Jespersen's second assist of the season.
Neither team was able to score during the remaining 88 minutes of the contest, securing the Jennies' victory.
For the match, UCM outshot Missouri Western (6-1-3, 2-1-2 MIAA), 12-11, including a 5-4 advantage in shots on goal. Central Missouri also bested MWSU in corner kicks, 7-2.

Kristen Wright (7-2-3) earned her fifth shutout of 2025 between the posts after giving up zero goals while making four saves in 90 minutes.
