WARRENSBURG, Mo. – The University of Central Missouri Jennies basketball team fell to the Northwest Missouri State Bearcats, 66-58, in a MIAA game played Thursday evening, Jan. 9, inside the Jerry M. Hughes Athletics Center.
The Jennies (9-7, 1-4 MIAA) are scheduled to host Missouri Western (9-4, 4-1 MIAA) Saturday afternoon, Jan. 11, at 3:10 p.m. in Warrensburg.
UCM led 18-12 at the end of the first quarter before Northwest Missouri State outscored Central Missouri in the second quarter, 22-10, to go into halftime leading, 34-28. The Bearcats would not trail the remainder of the game.
Reese Schaaf posted 19 points and snagged eight rebounds,
Lauren Frost had 16 points and a team-high nine rebounds, and
Cierra Smith compiled 12 points, pacing Central Missouri in the contest.
For the game, the Jennies shot 38 percent (22-of-58) from the field and were 12 of 13 at the free-throw line for 92 percent.
The Bearcats (8-7, 1-4 MIAA) outrebounded UCM, 36-28. Central Missouri did outscore Northwest Missouri in the paint, 30-28, but NWMSU won the points off turnovers battle, 11-8.
Caely Keston (19 points) and Kelsey Fields (17 points, 11 rebounds) paced Northwest Missouri State in the game.
