Emilee Person and
Ashleigh Martin each added a goal as No. 21-ranked Central Missouri Jennies soccer posted a 4-2 victory over the Augustana Vikings in its 2024 season and home opener Friday, Sept. 6, at the South Recreation Complex.
The Jennies (1-0) are scheduled to travel to Springfield, Ill., to face Illinois-Springfield (0-0-1) Sunday, Sept. 8, at 1 p.m.
Cole opened the scoring for UCM in the 14th-minute, scoring her first goal of the season off an assist from
Gracie Knight.
After Augustana tied the match, 1-1, with a goal in the 19th-minute, UCM answered with less than 10 seconds to go before halftime as Person took a feed from
Aspen Patterson and slotted it into the back of the net for the go-ahead goal.
Central Missouri came out of halftime on fire, upping its lead to 3-1 in the 48th-minute when Cole scored her second goal of the contest on a shot from just inside the box.
Martin netted UCM's final goal of the match on a penalty-kick in the 53rd-minute.
For the match, the Jennies outshot the Vikings (0-1), 19-14, including an 11-7 advantage in shots on goal.
Central Missouri goalkeeper
Sydney Beck (1-0) earned the win between the posts after making two saves and giving up just one goal in 45 minutes.
Sierra Barkus and Macie Haggerty each scored goals, pacing Augustana offensively in the contest.
Augie goalkeeper Aaliyah Matthews (0-1) took the loss in-goal, surrendering four goals while making seven saves in 90 minutes.
