PITTSBURG, Kan. – A fourth-quarter comeback fell just short for Central Missouri women's basketball as the Jennies fell to the Pittsburg State Gorillas, 82-80, Wednesday, Feb. 7, inside John Lance Arena.
The Jennies (15-6, 9-6 MIAA) are scheduled to travel to No. 24-ranked Missouri Southern for a MIAA game Saturday, Feb. 10, at 1:30 p.m. in Joplin, Mo.
After trailing the majority of the game, Central Missouri outscored Pittsburg State (17-5, 11-5 MIAA) in the fourth quarter, 25-20, but fell two points shy of completing the late rally.
Brooke Littrell posted her eighth double-double of the season with 26 points and 12 rebounds while
Olivia Nelson added 15 points and five assists,
Lauren Frost had 14 points and four assists, and
Ashley Tull tallied 10 points, leading UCM.
For the game, Central Missouri shot 33-of-61 from the field (54 percent) and were a perfect 11-of-11 at the free-throw line, but struggled from three-point range, making just three of 17 attempts (18 percent). The Jennies outrebounded the Gorillas, 35-28, and outscored Pittsburg State in the paint, 46-28.
Pittsburg State made 13 three-pointers during the game to help secure the win.
The Gorillas were led by Macie Mays with 17 points.
