WARRENSBURG, Mo. – The Central Missouri Mules (6-6, 1-2 MIAA) fell to No. 2 Washburn Ichabods (12-0, 3-0 MIAA) by a final score of 70-52 during "Hoops for the Holidays" on Saturday, Dec. 21, inside the Jerry M. Hughes Athletics Center in Warrensburg.
The Ichabods led by 13 at the break and never relinquished as they improve to 12-0 on the year led by Brayden Shorter's game-high 17 points and seven rebounds.
Central Missouri was led offensively by freshman
Jake Fritz who ended the contest with 12 points, two rebounds, and two steals while Kansas City, Mo. native
Elijah Farr (four rebounds, season-best three assists, and season-high two steals) and senior
Jack Chapman (season-best three assists, two rebounds, and a season-high two steals) added eight points each.
The Mules outscored Washburn 17-3 in bench points as sophomores
Corey Skillman Jr. (season-best five rebounds) and
Tim Jordan Jr. each had six points while Cincinnati, Ohio native
DeAirius Barker had four points on the afternoon.
Junior
Josh Nwankwo paced UCM with a season-high seven rebounds adding three points, plus, guard
KJ Lee collected three points and senior
Yafet Haile had two points for good measure.
Central Missouri returns to the court on Thursday, Jan. 2, as they continue MIAA play on the road against the Emporia State Hornets (4-7, 1-1 MIAA) at 7:30 p.m. inside White Auditorium in Emporia, Kan.
