WARRENSBURG, Mo. – University of Central Missouri Jennies soccer head coach
Lewis Theobald earned his 300th career victory as the No. 25-ranked Jennies rolled past the Newman Jets, 7-0, Sunday afternoon, Oct. 20, at the South Recreation Complex.
The Jennies (9-3-2, 6-1-1 MIAA) are scheduled to host No. 16-ranked Washburn (9-2-2, 6-0-1 MIAA) Friday, Oct. 25, at 6 p.m. in Warrensburg.
Theobald, who is in his 17th season as the head coach for Central Missouri, upped his program-best career record to 300-49-27, with Sunday's shutout victory over the Jets.
Molly Ricker opened the Jennies' scoring just two minutes into the match, netting her first goal of the season, before
Izzy Joyce scored back-to-back goals in the ninth and 11th minutes, increasing the UCM lead to 3-0. The goals moved Joyce's season total to six.
Lexie Ruf compiled the assist on Joyce's first goal.
Anna Lack tallied her first goal of the season in the 16th-minute, scoring off an assist from Joyce, upping the Central Missouri advantage to 4-0, prior to
Mikayla Ernst scoring for the third time in 2024 with a goal off an assist from
Ryann Clark in the 24th-minute.
Patsy O'Brien put an exclamation point on the Jennies' first half, scoring her first goal of the season in the 26th-minute for the 6-0 halftime lead.
Ava Lunders scored Central Missouri's seventh and final goal of the contest – her second of the season – in the 50th-minute off assists from
Gracie Knight and
Aspen Patterson.
For the match, UCM outshot Newman (0-13-1, 0-8 MIAA), 32-2, including a 19-1 advantage in shots on goal, and bested the Jets in corner kicks, 13-1.
Central Missouri goalkeeper
Kristen Wright (9-3-2) picked up her fifth shutout of the season in goal, giving up no goals in 26 minutes between the posts.
