WARRENSBURG, Mo. – University of Central Missouri Mules football fell to the Missouri Western Griffons, 38-28, Saturday afternoon, Oct. 12, at Walton Stadium/Kennedy Field.
The Mules (3-3, 1-3 MIAA) are scheduled to travel Maryville, Mo., to face Northwest Missouri State (4-3, 4-2 MIAA) Saturday, Oct. 19, at 2 p.m. at Bearcat Stadium.
The Griffons (3-4, 2-4 MIAA) scored 11 points in the second quarter to overcome an early 7-3 deficit and never trailed again during the contest.
UCM quarterback
Zach Zebrowski went 29-for-47 for 259 yards with three touchdowns.
Christian Davis added a career-high 82 rushing yards on 15 carries while
Keyon Butler tallied his first career rushing touchdown, and
Derrick Rose,
Hogan Wasson and
Jake Lippe all caught touchdown passes, pacing Central Missouri offensively.
Cooper Crane had seven tackles while
Charles Gadie compiled an interception, pacing UCM defensively.
For the game. Central Missouri was outgained by Missouri Western, 512 yards to 431 yards, including a 379-259 deficit in passing. The Mules bested the Griffons in rushing, 172-133, but lsot the time of possession battle, 34:07 to 25:53.
Griffon quarterback Branden Berwald went 21-for-33 for 379 yards and four touchdowns, and adde 93 rushing yards, while Tyler Carey added 178 receiving yards with three touchdowns, and Jonas Bennett compiled 131 receiving yards with a touchdown, leading Missouri Western.
