TIP OFF 
  • Central Missouri Mules basketball continues MIAA play with a pair of road matchups against the Fort Hays State Tigers (Thursday, Jan. 4) beginning at 7:30 p.m. inside Gross Memorial Coliseum, before taking on the Nebraska-Kearney Lopers (Saturday, Jan. 6) with tip-off scheduled for 4:00 p.m. from the Health & Sports Center in Kearney, Neb.  
 
ON THE AIR 
  • Both games will be broadcasted on 1450 KOKO, 98.5 The Bar and warrensburgradio.com with Greg Hassler on the call.
  • All games will be streamed through the MIAA Network on a pay-per-view basis with coverage beginning at 7:30 p.m. Thursday evening and 4:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon.  
 
MEET THE MULES
  • Adam Bohac was named the 25th head coach in the 118-year history of Central Missouri Mules basketball in March of 2023 after 15 seasons as head coach of the Southern Nazarene Crimson Storm where he had an overall record of 312-146 including 221-98 in GAC play. Bohac's teams have made nine post season appearances including four of the previous six seasons being in the NCAA Tournament. In 2022-23, the Storm reached the Sweet Sixteen and in 2019-20 were a two-seed in the tournament.  
  • The Mules are coming into 2023 with eleven of their 15 student-athletes having never stepped on the court for UCM.
  • Central Missouri returns four players from last year's team including guard Jordan Hayes and forwards Jack Chapman, Ben Fritz, and Yafet Haile.
  • The Mules brought in Division I transfers Caleb Nero (North Dakota) and Keith Kinner III (Niagara).
  • Other transfers include Jalen Knott (Alderson Broaddus), Terrance Broughton (Malone), Raeshaun Ambris (Moberly Area CC), and Josh Nwankwo (New Mexico JC).
  • The Mules added five freshman including guards KJ Vasser, Corey Skillman Jr., and Max Dowling, plus, forwards Noah Martin and Tim Jordan Jr.
 
LAST TIME OUT 
  • The Central Missouri Mules (5-5, 0-4) fell to the Truman State Bulldogs (4-6, 1-1) by a final score of 77-63 on Tuesday, Dec. 19, in the final day of the Las Vegas High Desert Classic from Desert Oasis High School in Las Vegas. 
  • After 20 minutes of play the Bulldogs led by five and never relinquished as they picked up their fourth win of the season as Kobi Williams (five assists) and CE Talton recorded 16 points each.
  • Redshirt senior Caleb Nero contributed his second-consecutive 23-point outing shooting 50-percent from field including 4-of-9 from beyond the arc adding a team-best four rebounds and two steals, plus guard Jalen Knott added 12 points for good measure.
  • The Mules outscored Truman State by a margin of 23-21 off the bench highlighted by junior Raeshaun Ambris' eight points and four rebounds, while forward Yafet Haile (two rebounds) and freshman KJ Vasser (one assist) both collected six points respectively.
  • Forward Noah Martin had three points and one assist, plus redshirt senior Jordan Hayes (team-high four assists and four rebounds) and forward Jack Chapman (three assists, two rebounds, and two assists) contributed two points each.
  
UCM BY THE NUMBERS 
  • Through ten games this season, the Mules are averaging 65.5 points per game while shooting 39.4 percent from the field, including 31 percent from beyond the arc and 73 percent from the charity stripe.
  • Central Missouri is averaging 35 rebounds, 11 assists, 5.8 steals, and 2.4 blocks per contest.
  • The Mules have four players averaging double figure scoring this season including redshirt senior Caleb Nero (14.6 points, 2.4 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 1.2 steals per contest), guard Jalen Knott (11.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 1.4 steals per game), redshirt senior Keith Kiner III (10.8 points, 5.1 rebounds, 1.4 blocks, and one assist per contest), and forward Tim Jordan Jr. (10.1 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game). 
 
SERIES HISTORY VS FORT HAYS STATE
  • Fort Hays State holds a 17-15 all-time advantage ahead of Thursday's 33rd meeting dating back to the 1948-49 season.
  • The Tigers have a 12-4 record at home following a 60-51 win in February of last season.
  • Forward Jack Chapman led UCM with 12 points while redshirt senior Gaven Pinkley contributed 11 points and four rebounds.
  
SERIES HISTORY VS NEBRASKA-KEARNEY
  • Saturday's contest will be the 21st all-time meeting between the Mules and Lopers dating back to the 1973-74 season with UCM holding an 11-9 advantage.
  • Nebraska-Kearney holds a 5-4 edge at home following a 78-72 victory over Central Missouri in February of last season.
  • The Mules received a career-high 30 points, four rebounds, and two steals from redshirt junior Garrett Luinstra while guard Trey Sides added 10 points, two steals, and two assists respectively.
