  • Central Missouri volleyball (7-5, 4-0) continues MIAA play with a pair of matches on the road against No. 20 Central Oklahoma Bronchos (13-2, 4-1) on Friday, Sept. 29, at 5:00 p.m. from Hamilton Field House in Edmond, Okla. before taking on the Pittsburg State Gorillas (6-7, 2-3) on Saturday, Sept. 30, beginning at 2:00 p.m. from John Lance Arena in Pittsburg, Kan.
  • Last week, the Jens went 2-1 highlighted by a pair of MIAA wins against Emporia State 3-1 (23-25, 25-18, 25-16, 25-15) on Friday, Sept. 22, and No. 13 Washburn 3-0 (25-21, 25-20, 25-22) on Saturday, Sept. 23, inside the Multipurpose Building in Warrensburg, Mo.  
 
How to Watch
  • Both matches will be available on a pay-per-view basis through the MIAA Network with coverage beginning at 5:00 p.m. on Friday evening and 2:00 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.   
 
Last Time Out
  • UCM defeated No. 13 Washburn by a final score of 3-0 (25-21, 25-20, 25-22) on Saturday, Sept. 23, inside the Multipurpose Building during the second annual Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kansas City fundraiser match.
  • Freshman Emma Siron led UCM offensively with a career-high 14 kills on 27 swings (.407 hitting percentage) adding a career-high three digs and two blocks for good measure.
  • Setter Olivia Olson recorded her team-leading ninth double-double of the season with a match-high 34 assists, 11 digs, three blocks and three kills.
  • Outside hitter Kersti Nix had nine kills and four digs, plus, redshirt senior Sydney Lierz (nine digs) and middle blocker Grace Southern (six kills and three digs) contributed two blocks each.
  • Defensively, the Jens out-hit Washburn by a margin of .211 to .135 on the afternoon highlighted by libero Grace Winkelmann's team-high 14 digs, while redshirt senior Jackie Storm collected 10 digs and three assists overall.
 
Series History
  • No. 20 Central Oklahoma: Heading into Friday evening's matchup, the Jens have a 23-6 lead in the all-time series dating back to the 1992 season. Last season, each team won on the road including a 3-1 (25-20, 18-25, 27-25, 25-11) win in Edmond, Okla. in October of 2022. Setter Olivia Olson led the Jens with a double-double performance (team-high 29 assists, 14 digs, and three kills overall), while Kersti Nix had a match-high 21 kills, six digs, and four blocks respectively. In the victory, Central Missouri out-hit the Bronchos .181 to .125 in the match highlighted by redshirt freshman Grace Winkelmann's team-high 16 digs, plus, middle blocker Grace Southern recorded seven kills, seven blocks, and four digs.
  • Pittsburg State: Central Missouri holds a 72-8-1 record against the Gorillas all-time going into Saturday afternoon's match in Pittsburg, Kan. dating back to the 1978 season. The Jens have a 24-2 advantage on the road against Pittsburg State including a 3-1 (25-21, 25-22, 18-25, 25-22) victory on Friday, Sept. 16, 2022, inside John Lance Arena. Outside hitter Sydney Lierz led UCM with a double-double performance (11 kills, 11 digs, and five blocks), while sophomore Tiffany Little added 11 kills and two blocks overall. Redshirt senior Rylie Barnum collected a team-high 20 digs and five service aces, plus, middle blocker Jenna Schulte had eight kills, six blocks, and three digs respectively.
 
Jens by the Numbers
  • Central Missouri is averaging 16.0 digs, 13.1 kills, 12.0 assists, 2.3 blocks (second-best in the conference) and 1.3 service aces per set through ten matches this season.
  • Setter Olivia Olson leads the Jens with nine double-doubles on the year averaging 10.06 assists per set (ranks second in the MIAA) while having the second-most digs (136) and third in blocks (36) on the team.
  • Redshirt senior Kersti Nix leads UCM with 178 kills on the season averaging 3.56 per set (third-most in the conference) while averaging 3.90 points per set (ranks third in the MIAA) and has the second-most double-doubles on the team with four.
  • Middle Blocker Grace Southern's 66 blocks leads UCM averaging 1.32 per set (best in the conference) and hitting percentage at .308 (tied for eighth in the MIAA). Southern is second on the team in kills with 126 (2.52 kills per set) and points with 170.5 (3.41 points per set).
  • Redshirt sophomore Grace Winklemann leads the Jens with 179 digs on the year averaging 3.58 digs per set and has collected double-digit digs in 11 consecutive matches including two with 20 or more.
