Scene Setter
  • Central Missouri volleyball begins their second season under head coach Caitlin Peterson at the Courtyard by Marriott Tampa Volleyball Classic on Friday, Sept. 1 and Saturday, Sept. 2, from the Bob Martinez Athletics Center in Tampa, Fla.
  • The Jens' first match is against No. 5 Tampa on Friday, Sept. 1, beginning at 4:30 p.m. followed by a pair of matches on Saturday, Sept. 2, against No. 24 Gannon (10:00 a.m.) and Missouri S&T (4:30 p.m.)
  • UCM returns six All-MIAA selections from last season including Kersti Nix (First Team), Grace Southern (First Team), Tiffany Little (Second Team), Jenna Schulte (Second Team), Sydney Lierz (Honorable Mention) and Grace Winkelmann (Honorable Mention).

  • All matches will be available through the Sunshine State Conference Digital Network with coverage beginning at 4:30 p.m. on Friday and 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.  
 
Series History
  • No. 5 Tampa: Heading into Friday's match against the host school, the Spartans have an 11-2 advantage all-time against UCM. The last meeting resulted in a 3-2 (25-23, 20-25, 22-25, 25-21, 12-15) Tampa victory (Friday, Sept. 6) in the second match of the 2019 season. The Jennies had double-double performances from Ally Offerdahl (match-high 43 assists and team-high 18 digs) and Aubree Bell (team-high 11 kills and 10 digs).
  • No. 24 Gannon: When the Golden Knights and Central Missouri take the court on Saturday morning, it will be the first meeting between both teams.
  • Missouri S&T: The Jens have a perfect 8-0 record all-time against the Miners dating back to the 2007 season. Their last meeting came in 2015 when UCM claimed a 3-1 (25-19, 25-20, 21-25, 25-12) victory led by double-doubles from Kourtney Thompson (match-high 47 assists and 14 digs) and Carly Sojka (match-high 27 kills and 17 digs).  
 
Jens by the Numbers
  • Last season, UCM finished with an overall record of 19-11 and 14-6 in the MIAA conference outhitting their opponents .221 to .197 averaging 17.1 digs, 13.5 kills, 12.2 assists and 2.4 blocks per set.
