- Defending MIAA Regular Season and Postseason Tournament Champion University of Central Missouri Jennies soccer is scheduled to begin its 2023 season with a pair of road matches Friday, Sept. 1, and Sunday, Sept. 3. The Jennies will travel to Sioux Falls, S.D., for a season-opening contest at Augustana (S.D.) Friday at 5 p.m. before trekking to Marshall, Minn., Sunday for a 9 a.m. tussle at Southwest Minnesota State.
- Central Missouri is ranked No. 13 in the United Soccer Coaches Preseason Division II Poll and is the favorite in the MIAA Preseason Coaches' Poll.
- UCM returns nine starters from last season's conference championship squad that went 19-2-2 overall and 9-1-1 in the MIAA, including All-American Caroline Cole (23 GP, 8 G, 9 A, 25 Pts, 60 Sh, .133 Shot%, 29 SOG, .483 SOG%, 1 GW), and All-MIAA honorees Kloee Grubb (23 GP, 1 G, 1 A, 3 Pts, 8 Sh, .125 Shot%, 3 SOG, .375 SOG%, 1 GW), Andree Orcutt (23 GP, 1 G, 1 A, 3 Pts, 12 Sh, .083 Shot%, 5 SOG, .417 SOG%, 1 GW) and Molly Ricker (23 GP, 2 G, 1 A, 5 Pts., 10 Sh, .200 Shot%, 2 SOG, .200 SOG%).
- Cole ranked fourth in the MIAA in assists (9), fifth in goals (8) and sixth in points (25) during the 2022 season while Grubb played a position player-high 1,860 minutes on the pitch.
- Central Missouri also welcomes back 2022 starting goalkeeper Sydney Beck (23 GP, 23 GS, 1,980:29 minutes, 19 GA, 0.86 GAA, 71 saves, .789 Save%, 19-2-2, 7 Shutouts). Beck ranked fourth in the MIAA with her 0.86 goals-against average and was fifth in saves (71) and third in shutouts (7).
Preseason Picks
- Jennies soccer was voted preseason No. 1 in the MIAA Preseason Coaches' Poll for the 2023 season.
- UCM received 119 points and nine of 12 possible first-place votes in the poll.
Home Sweet Home
- Dating back to the 2016 season, the Jennies are 72-4-1 at the South Recreation Complex. During that span, UCM has surrendered just 56 goals.
- All-time at the South Recreation Complex, UCM is 147-14-8 under head coach Lewis Theobald and 211-35-9 in overall program history. The Jennies have compiled undefeated home records five times.

Series History
- Augustana: The Jennies and Vikings will meet for the ninth time in program history Friday in Sioux Falls, S.D. UCM is 8-0-0 against Augustana in the all-time series. The last time the two teams met was in 2019 with the Jennies posting a 5-1 victory over Augie in Sioux Falls.
- Southwest Minnesota State: UCM and Southwest Minnesota State will meet for the fifth time in the all-time series Sunday afternoon in Marshall, Minn. The Jennies lead the series, 3-1-0. The two teams last met back in 2013 with the Mustangs compiling a 3-1 win over the Jennies in the NCAA-II tournament.
Head Coach Lewis Theobald
Lewis Theobald, now in his 16th year, has transformed the Jennies Soccer program into one of the premier programs not only in the MIAA, but in all of NCAA Division II.
The 11-time MIAA and five-time region Coach of the Year, enters the 2023 season with an impressive 275-41-23 record. He recorded more wins in his first three seasons than any other coach in school history and is the all-time winningest coach in both Jennies soccer and MIAA women's soccer history. He brought home the program's first ever National Championship in the 2017 season.
Theobald enters the 2023 season as the winningest active coach in Division II women's soccer with an .845 winning percentage, among coaches with at least five years on the sidelines. He also is the all-time D-II leader among coaches with at least 10 years and is fifth all-time in all NCAA Divisions.

He has coached 126 All-Conference players, including Most Valuable Players Melanie Hall, Kayla Shain and two-time Player of the Year Alyssa Rhodes; Offensive Players of the Years Carly Stanley, Julie Ireland, Jada Scott, Kassie Newsom and
Julia Kristensen; Freshmen of the Year Alyssa Rhodes, Stanley, Hannah Pyle, Alexis Robbers, Nicki Wisnasky,
Caroline Cole and
Julia Kristensen; Defenders of the Year, Emily Eldridge, Allysa Gann, Cindy Lackey and Abby Rhodes; two-time Goalkeeper of the Year Lindsey Johnson and four-time Goalkeeper of the Year Ana Dilkes.
A 1999 graduate of the University of Kansas, Theobald received his bachelor's degree in education with a concentration in physical education.
