Jennies Softball Drops Both of Doubleheader with No. 8 Rogers State

WARRENSBURG, Mo. – The Central Missouri Jennies (22-13, 6-6) fell in both games of their doubleheader with No. 8 Rogers State Hillcats (27-6, 6-4) by a final score of 2-1 and 7-2 on Sunday, April 2, from Jennies Field at the South Recreation Complex in Warrensburg.
 
The Jennies return to the diamond on Tuesday, April 4, as they hit the road for a conference doubleheader against the Lincoln Blue Tigers beginning at 1:00 p.m. from LU Softball Field in Jefferson City, Mo.   
 
Game 1: No. 8 Rogers State 2, Central Missouri 1
The Hillcats had a 1-0 lead heading into the bottom of the fourth inning as the Jennies had the bases loaded with nobody out. Halle Howes plated a run thanks to an RBI groundout scoring Abby Allnutt tying the game at 1-1.
 
In the top of the seventh, RSU would regain the lead with a solo homer from Callie Yellin as Paige Petefish (7-3) suffers the loss in the circle allowing six hits, two earned runs and striking out five while Jessica Sader led UCM offensively going 2-3 respectively.
 
Game 2: No. 8 Rogers State 7, Central Missouri 2
In the doubleheader finale, RSU got on the board first with a two-run homerun in the third, but the Jens quickly responded tying the game with an RBI double from Makenzie McAtee that scored Ashlyn Cook and Abbey Fischer.
 
The Hillcats proceeded to score a pair of runs in the fourth and fifth innings while adding a single run in the seventh en route to the 7-2 victory. Mandy Hansen (1-3) is tagged with the loss while McAtee led UCM offensively going 2-4 at the plate.
