WARRENSBURG, Mo. – The Central Missouri Jennies (20-11, 4-4) swept their doubleheader with the Missouri S&T Miners (12-16, 4-4) by a final score of 8-0 (6 inn.) and 4-0 on Tuesday, March 28, from Jennies Field at the South Recreation Complex in Warrensburg.
The Jennies return to the diamond on Saturday, April 1, hosting the Northeastern State Riverhawks for a conference doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the South Recreation Complex in Warrensburg.
Game 1: Central Missouri 8, Missouri S&T 0 (6 inn.)
The Jennies struck early and often in game number one as
Lexi Blackmon drew a bases loaded walk in the bottom of the first inning scoring
Abbey Fischer, followed by a
Halle Howes RBI single scoring
Makenzie McAtee giving UCM a 2-0 lead. The Jens added a pair of runs in the second inning before Howes drove in her second RBI of the contest in the bottom of the fifth scoring
Peyton Corrigan making it 5-0 Central Missouri.
In the bottom of the sixth, the Jens extended their lead with an
Ashlyn Cook RBI single scoring Fischer, followed by an
Abby Allnutt RBI single that scored Cook. With the bases loaded and one out,
Carly Youngblood delivered the game-winning run with an RBI single up the middle.
Andi Siebeneck (6-2) picked up the game one victory in the circle going the distance allowing just four hits while striking out six Miners on 82 pitches. Fischer (three runs scored) and Howes (two RBI) each went 2-3 at the plate pacing UCM offensively.
Game 2: Central Missouri 4, Missouri S&T 0
In game two of the afternoon, the Jennies picked up right where they left off plating a run in the bottom of the first inning. With the bases loaded and one out in the bottom of the third, Central Missouri added a run on a wild pitch scoring Youngblood, followed by a
Hayden Serna bases loaded walk making it 3-0 Jens.
UCM added another insurance run in the fourth as McAtee delivered with an RBI groundout scoring Fischer en route to a 4-0 victory and the doubleheader sweep.
Kaylee Diggs (5-4) earned the victory in the circle allowing just five hits and striking out two on 86 pitches while Allnutt led the Jennies offensively going 2-4 with a run scored.
