WARRENSBURG, Mo. – No. 3-ranked Central Missouri Jennies basketball fell to the Pittsburg State Gorillas, 101-93, in overtime Saturday afternoon, Dec. 16, inside the UCM Multipurpose Building.
The Jennies (8-2, 3-2 MIAA) are scheduled to return to action Friday, Dec. 29, at 4 p.m., hosting Evangel in a non-conference game in Warrensburg.
Pittsburg State (9-1, 4-1 MIAA) outscored Central Missouri in the fourth quarter, 27-11, and in overtime, 20-12, to overcome a 70-54 deficit and post the 101-93 victory.
Olivia Nelson had a career-high tying 29 points, while
Lauren Frost added a career-best 21 points, pacing UCM in the game.
Graycen Holden (14 points),
Ashley Tull (13 points) and
Brooke Littrell (12 points) also scored in double figures in the contest, with Littrell posting 10 rebounds for her sixth double-double of the season.
For the game, the Jennies outscored the Gorillas in the paint, 62-46, but were outrebounded, 35-33. Pittsburg State also shot 56 percent (34-of-61) from the floor in the contest while UCM was limited to 51 percent (38-of-74) shooting.
Karenna Gerber posted 27 points, leading Pittsburg State.
