Scene Setter
  • No. 21 Central Missouri volleyball (19-7, 16-2) begins the final home stand of the season hosting the Fort Hays State Tigers (11-16, 5-13) on Friday, Nov. 10 (at 6:00 p.m.), before a top-25 showdown with No. 10 Nebraska-Kearney Lopers (25-3, 15-3) on Saturday, Nov. 11, beginning at 2:00 p.m. from the Multipurpose Building.
  • Redshirt senior Kersti Nix was named the MIAA Offensive Athlete of the Week for her play on the court in wins against Missouri Southern and Newman. The Overland Park, Kan. native had 24 kills on 42 swings (.476 hitting percentage) averaging 3.43 kills per set including a match-high 18 kills adding four digs and three blocks against the Lions.    
  • The Jens are ranked 21st in the latest AVCA (American Volleyball Coaches Association) poll released on Monday, Nov. 6, moving up two spots from last week. This is the 441st week that Central Missouri has been ranked in the top-25 in the AVCA poll, the most by any program in all of Division II.  
  • Saturday afternoon's contest will be Senior Day for Jennies volleyball. Seven players and three staff members will be recognized including Cory Allensworth, Alyssa Cosmillo, Abbi McGee, Jackie Storm, Olivia Olson, Sydney Lierz, Jenna Schulte, Grace Southern, Kersti Nix, and Claire Wagner.
 
How to Watch
  • Both matches will be available on a pay-per-view basis through the MIAA Network with coverage beginning at 6:00 p.m. Friday night and 2:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon.     
 
Last Time Out
  • No. 23 Central Missouri Jennies (19-7, 16-2) swept the Newman Jets (0-25, 0-17) by a final score of 3-0 (25-10, 25-14, 25-14) on Saturday, Nov. 4, inside Fugate Gymnasium in Wichita, Kan. 
  • With the score tied at five in the opening set, the Jens went on an 8-2 highlighted by a pair of kills from redshirt senior Kersti Nix (six kills on 11 swings overall, for a .545 attack percentage) giving UCM a 1-0 advantage.
  • In the second set, Central Missouri led 5-3 before going on a 5-0 run beginning with a kill from reigning MIAA Setter of the Week Olivia Olson (match-high 29 assists and nine digs overall) and ending with a kill from redshirt senior Sydney Lierz (six kills on 15 attempts for a .400 hitting percentage) from Olson increasing the lead to 2-0.
  • The Jennies capped off the sweep beginning the third set with a 5-2 run, picking up their seventh consecutive win and improving to 16-2 in the MIAA. UCM was led offensively by sophomore Rachel Ziesman's match-high eight kills on 12 swings (.417 hitting percentage) adding a match-high five blocks, and three digs while middle blocker Elinor Engel contributed seven kills (on 12 attempts for a .583 attack percentage) and three blocks respectively.
  • Defensively, the Jens outhit Newman by a margin of .326 to .032 overall on the afternoon including .435 to .000 in the first set thanks to a team-high 11 digs from libero Grace Winkelmann, while defensive specialist Jackie Storm added nine digs and junior Arley Anderson collected five digs for good measure. 
 
Series History
  • Fort Hays State: Ahead of Friday night's contest, the Jens have a 32-3 record all-time against Fort Hays State dating back to the 1981 season including a 13-0 record in Warrensburg. In October of this year, the Tigers came away with a 3-2 victory inside Gross Memorial Coliseum in Hays, Kan. Redshirt senior Kersti Nix led UCM with a match-high 19 kills adding three blocks while outside hitter Emma Siron had 15 kills and three blocks respectively. Redshirt senior Olivia Olson recorded her 12th double-double of the season with a match-high 51 assists, 13 digs, seven kills, and a match-high three service aces for good measure.
  • No. 10 Nebraska-Kearney: Saturday afternoon will be the 45th meeting between the Lopers and UCM as Nebraska-Kearney holds a 24-20 advantage dating back to the 1979 season. Earlier this season in Kearney, the Lopers came away with a 3-0 win inside the Health & Sports Center. Freshman Elinor Engel (match-high five blocks) and outside hitter Kersti Nix led UCM offensively with 11 kills, while setter Olivia Olson contributed 36 assists, seven digs, four blocks and four kills respectively. Defensive specialist Arley Anderson led the Jens defensively with a career-high 18 digs, while libero Grace Winkelmann added 12 digs and redshirt senior Jackie Storm had 11 digs.   
 
UCM in the Polls

  • Central Missouri is averaging 16.5 digs, 13.8 kills (third-most in the MIAA), 12.6 assists (third-best in the conference), 2.5 blocks (best in the MIAA) and 1.4 service aces per set through 26 matches this season.
  • Redshirt senior Olivia Olson leads the Jens with 14 double-doubles on the year collecting a MIAA-leading 1,088 assists averaging 10.8 assists per set (ranks second in the MIAA) while having the second-most digs (259) and is third in blocks with 80.
  • Reigning MIAA Offensive Athlete of the Week Kersti Nix leads UCM with 361 kills (second in the MIAA) on the season averaging 3.57 kills per set (second-most in the conference) while averaging 3.89 points per set (ranks second in the MIAA) and has the second-most double-doubles on the team with four.
  • Freshman Elinor Engel leads the Jens and is third in the MIAA with 97 blocks on the year (averaging 1.03 blocks per set), while she is second on the team in kills (232) averaging 2.47 kills per set (second-most for UCM) and is the fourth player to record a double-double performance this season.
  • Middle blocker Grace Southern's 74 blocks is fourth-most on the team averaging 1.2 per set (best in the conference) and hitting percentage at .304 (fourth in the MIAA). Southern is fourth on the team in kills with 151 (2.44 kills per set) and points with 199.5 (3.22 points per set).
  • Sophomore Rachel Ziesman has collected 81 blocks on the year (second-most on the team) averaging 1.07 blocks per set while ranking third in points (202.5) and kills (153) averaging 2.01 kills per set. 
  • Redshirt sophomore Winklemann leads the Jens with 395 digs (sixth-most in the MIAA) on the year averaging 3.91 digs per set and has collected double-digit digs in 25 consecutive matches including seven with 20 or more.
