Scene Setter
  • Central Missouri volleyball (18-7, 15-2) travels to Wichita, Kan. for a conference matchup with the Newman Jets (0-25, 0-17) on Saturday, Nov. 4, with first serve scheduled for 3:00 p.m. inside Fugate Gymnasium.  
  • Redshirt senior Olivia Olson was named the MIAA Setter of the Week (her second of the year) for her efforts on the court last week posting 76 assists (12.67 assists per set) while adding 16 digs (2.76 digs per set), seven kills (1.17 kills per set), and six blocks for good measure in sweeps against Pittsburg State and No. 17 Central Oklahoma.   
  • The Jens are ranked 23rd in the latest AVCA (American Volleyball Coaches Association) poll released on Monday, Oct. 30.

Last Time Out
  • No. 23 Central Missouri Jennies (18-7, 15-2) defeated the Missouri Southern Lions (13-13, 6-11) by a final score of 3-1 (25-15, 21-25, 25-16, 25-15) on Tuesday, Oct. 31, inside the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center in Joplin, Mo.
  • After surrendering the opening two points of the match, UCM responded with a pair of 7-0 runs as outside hitters Kersti Nix (match-high 18 kills, four digs, and three blocks overall) and Sydney Lierz (12 digs, six kills, and a match-high two service aces overall) tallied four kills apiece helping the Jens take a 1-0 lead.
  • The Lions answered with a 25-21 victory in set two tying the match, but the Jennies regained the lead with a 25-16 win in the third highlighted by an 11-1 run sparked by a kill from reigning MIAA Setter of the Week Olivia Olson (match-high 40 assists, 10 digs, six blocks, and four kills overall).
  • Central Missouri jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the fourth and never relinquished picking up their sixth consecutive win improving to 15-2 in MIAA play.
  • Middle blockers Rachel Ziesman (eight kills and three digs overall) and Elinor Engel (seven kills and a career-high four digs) collected a match-high six blocks, while freshman Emma Siron had eight kills adding career-highs in digs (five) and blocks (four) respectively.
  • On the night, the Jens outhit Missouri Southern by a margin of .254 to .096 including .353 to .075 in the fourth thanks to double-digit digs from libero Grace Winkelmann (team-high 20 digs and five assists overall), junior Arley Anderson (12 digs overall), and defensive specialist Jackie Storm (10 digs overall).
 
Series History
  • Newman: Coming into Saturday afternoon's matchup, Central Missouri is 12-0 all-time against the Jets dating back to the 1987 season including a 4-0 record in Wichita. Earlier this season, the Jens swept Newman 3-0 (25-10, 25-14, 26-24) on Thursday, Oct. 5, inside the Multipurpose Building in Warrensburg. Outside hitter Kersti Nix led the Jens with a team-high eight kills on 14 swings (.571 attack percentage) adding two digs, while freshman Emma Siron contributed seven kills respectively. Middle blocker Rachel Ziesman had six kills, a team-high four blocks and four digs, plus, setter Olivia Olson collected a match-high 26 assists, six digs, four kills and three service aces in the winning effort. Defensively, Central Missouri outhit the Jets by a margin of .206 to .094 overall highlighted by libero Grace Winkelmann's team-high 12 digs, while junior Arley Anderson collected eight digs and outside hitter Sydney Lierz had five digs for good measure.
 
UCM in the Polls
  • The Jens are ranked 23rd in the latest AVCA (American Volleyball Coaches' Association) poll released on Monday, Oct. 30.
  • UCM is one of three teams from the MIAA conference ranked alongside No. 10 Nebraska-Kearney and No. 17 Central Oklahoma.

  • Central Missouri is averaging 16.5 digs, 13.8 kills (third-most in the MIAA), 12.6 assists (third-best in the conference), 2.5 blocks (best in the MIAA) and 1.3 service aces per set through 25 matches this season.
  • Reigning MIAA Setter of the Week Olivia Olson leads the Jens with 14 double-doubles on the year collecting a MIAA-leading 1,059 assists averaging 10.81 assists per set (ranks second in the MIAA) while having the second-most digs (250) and blocks (79) on the team.
  • Outside hitter Kersti Nix leads UCM with 355 kills (second in the MIAA) on the season averaging 3.62 kills per set (second-most in the conference) while averaging 3.94 points per set (ranks second in the MIAA) and has the second-most double-doubles on the team with four.
  • Freshman Elinor Engel leads the Jens and is second in the MIAA with 94 blocks on the year (averaging 1.03 blocks per set) while she is second on the team in kills (225) averaging 2.47 kills per set (second-most for UCM) and is the fourth player to record a double-double performance this season.
  • Middle blocker Grace Southern's 74 blocks is fourth-most on the team averaging 1.21 per set (best in the conference) and hitting percentage at .304 (fourth in the MIAA). Southern is third on the team in kills with 150 (2.46 kills per set) and points with 198.5 (3.25 points per set).
  • Sophomore Rachel Ziesman has collected 76 blocks on the year (third-most on the team) averaging 1.04 blocks per set while ranking fourth in points (189.0) and fifth in kills (145). 
  • Redshirt sophomore Winklemann leads the Jens with 384 digs (fifth-most in the MIAA) on the year averaging 3.92 digs per set and has collected double-digit digs in 23 consecutive matches including six with 20 or more.
