  • Central Missouri volleyball (15-7, 12-2) returns to the Multipurpose Building for a pair of conference matchups against the Pittsburg State Gorillas (8-14, 4-10) on Friday, Oct. 27, beginning at 6:00 p.m. before hosting No. 17 Central Oklahoma Bronchos (20-3, 11-2) on Saturday, Oct. 28, with first serve scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
  • Last week, the Jens went 3-0 with beginning with a 3-0 (25-18, 25-13, 25-22) sweep of the Missouri Western Griffons on Tuesday evening in Warrensburg, before a pair of road victories against No. 21 Washburn Ichabods 3-0 (25-22, 25-19, 25-14) on Friday, Oct. 20, and the Emporia State Hornets 3-2 (25-18, 19-25, 26-24, 20-25, 15-12) on Saturday, Oct. 21.
  • Saturday's match against the Bronchos is designated as the Breast Cancer Awareness Match benefiting the Totes of Hope Foundation, a non-profit organization that provides chemo-care bags to cancer warriors.   • Both matches will be available on a pay-per-view basis through the MIAA Network with coverage beginning at 6:00 p.m. on Friday night and 2:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon.     
 
Last Time Out
  • The Central Missouri Jennies defeated the Emporia State Hornets by a final score of 3-2 (25-18, 19-25, 26-24, 20-25, 15-12) on Saturday, Oct. 21, inside White Auditorium in Emporia, Kan. 
  • For the second consecutive match, UCM jumped out to an early 5-1 lead thanks to a pair of kills from middle blocker Elinor Engel (15 kills, six blocks, and a career-high four digs overall) helping them take a 1-0 lead.
  • After dropping the second set and trailing 23-19 in the third, the Jens went on a 7-1 run taking a 2-1 lead in the match highlighted by three kills from redshirt senior Sydney Lierz (15 kills, 13 digs, and three service aces overall).
  • The Hornets responded with a 25-20 win in the fourth set as a fifth was needed to decide a winner.
  • In the final set of the match with the score tied at six, Central Missouri took the lead for good thanks to an Emma Siron (career-high three digs and two kills overall) kill from setter Olivia Olson (match-high 55 assists, eight kills, seven digs, and a career-high seven blocks overall) as the Jens improve to 12-2 in MIAA play.
  • Redshirt senior Kersti Nix led the Jens offensively with a match-high 22 kills on 42 swings (.357 attack percentage), while middle blocker Rachel Ziesman added seven kills, a career-high six digs, and five blocks for good measure.
  • Defensively, UCM outhit the Hornets by a margin of .259 to .198 in the match as libero Grace Winkelmann (career-high three aces) and junior Arley Anderson collected 13 digs each.
 
Series History
  • Pittsburg State: Heading into Friday night's match inside the Multipurpose Building, the Jens hold a 73-8-1 overall record against PSU including a 31-3 advantage in Warrensburg. Earlier this season, UCM defeated the Gorillas 3-1 (25-12, 22-25, 25-14, 25-22) on Saturday, Sept. 30, in Pittsburg, Kan. Setter Olivia Olson earned her 11th double-double of the season with a match-high 53 assists, 13 digs, six blocks, and four kills while collecting her 1,000th career assist in the final set of the match. Sophomore Rachel Ziesman led the Jens offensively with a career and match-high 17 kills, six blocks, and five digs. For the match, Central Missouri outhit the Gorillas by a margin of .258 to .027 overall as middle blocker Elinor Engel had 14 kills, adding a career-high six blocks respectively.
  • No. 17 Central Oklahoma: Entering Saturday afternoon's contest, UCM holds a 24-6 record against the Bronchos including a 9-1 mark inside the Multipurpose Building dating back to the 1992 season. Earlier this season in Edmond, the Jens defeated (then 20th ranked) UCO 3-2 (17-25, 25-17, 25-22, 15-25, 22-20) on Friday, Sept. 29, inside Hamilton Field House. UCM had four players reach double digit kills including freshman Elinor Engel (16 kills and four blocks overall), outside hitter Kersti Nix (15 kills and three digs overall), freshman Emma Siron (12 kills on 22 swings for a .409 hitting percentage), and middle blocker Grace Southern (11 kills and six blocks overall).
 
Jens by the Numbers
  • Central Missouri is averaging 16.3 digs, 13.74 kills (third-most in the MIAA), 12.5 assists (fourth-best in the conference), 2.39 blocks (best in the MIAA) and 1.3 service aces per set through 22 matches this season.
  • Redshirt senior Olivia Olson leads the Jens with 12 double-doubles on the year collecting a MIAA-leading 943 assists averaging 10.72 assists per set (ranks second in the MIAA) while having the second-most digs (224) and third in blocks (67) on the team.
  • Outside hitter Kersti Nix leads UCM with 314 kills (second in the MIAA) on the season averaging 3.57 kills per set (second-most in the conference) while averaging 3.89 points per set (ranks second in the MIAA) and has the second-most double-doubles on the team with four.
  • Freshman Elinor Engel leads the Jens with 83 blocks on the year (averaging 1.02 blocks per set) while she is second on the team in kills (200) averaging 2.47 kills per set (second-most for UCM) and is the fourth player to record a double-double this season doing so against Missouri Western (Oct. 17).
  • Middle blocker Grace Southern's 74 blocks is second-most on the team averaging 1.21 per set (best in the conference) and hitting percentage at .304 (fourth in the MIAA). Southern is third on the team in kills with 150 (2.46 kills per set) and points with 198.5 (3.25 points per set).
  • Redshirt sophomore Winklemann leads the Jens with 328 digs on the year averaging 3.73 digs per set and has collected double-digit digs in 21 consecutive matches including four with 20 or more.
