Scene Setter
  • Central Missouri volleyball (13-7, 10-2) hits the road for a pair of MIAA contests against No. 21 Washburn Ichabods (13-5, 7-4) on Friday, Oct. 20 at 6:00 p.m. inside Lee Arena before traveling to Emporia, Kan. for a Saturday afternoon matchup with the Emporia State Hornets (10-9, 4-7) with first serve scheduled for 2:00 p.m. from White Auditorium.  
  • On Tuesday evening, the Jens swept the Missouri Western Griffons (14-7, 7-5) by a final score of 3-0 (25-18, 25-13, 25-22) inside the Multipurpose Building in Warrensburg.     
 
How to Watch
  • Both matches will be available on a pay-per-view basis through the MIAA Network with coverage beginning at 6:00 p.m. on Friday night and 2:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon.     
 
Last Time Out
  • The Central Missouri Jennies (13-7, 10-2) swept the Missouri Western Griffons (14-7, 7-5) by a final score of 3-0 (25-18, 25-13, 25-22) on Tuesday, Oct. 17, inside the Multipurpose Building in Warrensburg, Mo.
  • After taking the opening set of the match, UCM led 7-5 in the second before going on a 7-2 run highlighted by three kills from redshirt senior Kersti Nix (10 kills and three blocks overall) giving the Jens a 2-0 advantage.
  • With the score tied at 21 in the third, Central Missouri benefited from four Griffon attack errors including the match winner thanks to block assists from redshirt junior Grace Southern (nine kills on 19 swings for a .316 attack percentage) and setter Olivia Olson (match-high 38 assists eight digs, three blocks, and three kills overall).
  • Offensively, the Jens were led by freshman Elinor Engel's double-double performance with a match-high 11 kills on 17 attempts (.529 hitting percentage) adding a career-high 10 blocks for good measure, plus, outside hitter Emma Siron contributed 10 kills on 22 swings (.409 hitting percentage).
  • On the night, UCM outhit the Griffons .330 to .131 including a margin of .474 to .257 in the second set.
  • Defensively, UCM was led by libero Grace Winkelmann's team-high 14 digs, while redshirt senior Sydney Lierz added seven digs, four blocks, and four kills for good measure.
  • Defensive specialist Jackie Storm collected six digs and junior Arley Anderson had four digs in the winning effort.
 
Series History
  • No. 21 Washburn: Heading into Friday night's match, the Jens are 65-26 all-time against Washburn dating back to the 1978 season including a mark of 17-12 in Topeka. Earlier this season inside the Multipurpose Building, UCM swept (then ranked 13th) Ichabods 3-0 (25-21, 25-20, 25-22). Freshman Emma Siron led Central Missouri with 14 kills on 27 swings (.407 hitting percentage) while fellow freshman Elinor Engel had 11 kills and a match-high six blocks respectively. Setter Olivia Olson recorded her ninth double-double performance of the year with a match-high 34 assists and 11 digs, plus, redshirt sophomore Grace Winkelmann collected a team-high 14 digs in the winning effort.
  • Emporia State: The Jens holds a 63-7 lead in the all-time series with Emporia State dating back to the 1983 season including a 21-4 record inside White Auditorium. UCM is seeking a season sweep thanks to a 3-1 (23-25, 25-18, 25-16, 25-15) victory over the Hornets on Friday, Sept. 22, inside the Multipurpose Building. Freshman Gillian Bachali led the Jens with 16 kills and four digs, while outside hitter Kersti Nix added 13 kills and four blocks respectively. Redshirt junior Grace Southern contributed a match-high seven blocks and six kills, plus, setter Olivia Olson recorded a match-high 47 assists, a career-high seven aces, five blocks, five digs, and four kills.  
 
Jens by the Numbers
  • Central Missouri is averaging 16.3 digs, 13.6 kills (fourth-most in the MIAA), 12.4 assists (fourth-best in the conference), 2.43 blocks (best in the MIAA) and 1.3 service aces per set through 20 matches this season.
  • Redshirt senior Olivia Olson leads the Jens with 12 double-doubles on the year collecting a MIAA-leading 849 assists averaging 10.61 assists per set (ranks second in the MIAA) while having the second-most digs (209) and third in blocks (59) on the team.
  • Outside hitter Kersti Nix leads UCM with 281 kills (second in the MIAA) on the season averaging 3.51 kills per set (second-most in the conference) while averaging 3.85 points per set (ranks second in the MIAA) and has the second-most double-doubles on the team with four.
  • Freshman Elinor Engel leads the Jens with 75 blocks on the year (averaging 1.03 blocks per set) while she is second on the team in kills (176) averaging 2.41 kills per set (third-most for UCM) and is the fourth different player to record a double-double performance this season.
  • Middle blocker Grace Southern's 74 blocks is second-most on the team averaging 1.21 per set (best in the conference) and hitting percentage at .304 (eighth in the MIAA). Southern is third on the team in kills with 150 (2.46 kills per set) and points with 198.5 (3.25 points per set).
  • Redshirt sophomore Winklemann leads the Jens with 301 digs on the year averaging 3.76 digs per set (ninth in the MIAA) and has collected double-digit digs in 19 consecutive matches including four with 20 or more.
