Scene Setter
  • Central Missouri volleyball (12-7, 9-2) hosts the Missouri Western Griffons (14-6, 7-4) on Tuesday, Oct. 17 with first serve scheduled for 6:00 p.m. inside the Multipurpose Building in Warrensburg, Mo.
  • Tuesday's match against the Griffons will be our Salute to Service match, presented by UCM ROTC and the UCM Office of Military and Veteran Services. All military members and their families will receive free admission to the match.   
  • Last week, the Jens went 1-2 in MIAA play with a win over the Northwest Missouri Bearcats by a final score of 3-1 (25-23, 19-25, 25-18, 25-17) on Tuesday, Oct. 10, inside the Multipurpose Building in Warrensburg before falling on the road to No. 9 Nebraska-Kearney (Friday, Oct. 13) by a final score of 3-0 (23-25, 23-25, 22-25) and Fort Hays State (Saturday, Oct. 14) 3-2 (25-17, 26-24, 21-25, 20-25, 11-15).

  • Tuesday's match will be available on a pay-per-view basis through the MIAA Network with coverage beginning at 6:00 p.m.     
 
Last Time Out
  • UCM fell to the Fort Hays State Tigers by a final score of 3-2 (25-17, 26-24, 21-25, 20-25, 11-15) on Saturday, Oct. 14, inside Gross Memorial Coliseum in Hays, Kan.
  • The Jens took the opening set of the match 25-17 thanks to a 9-2 run highlighted by three kills from redshirt senior Kersti Nix (match-high 19 kills and three blocks overall) while setter Olivia Olson (match-high 51 assists, 13 digs, and seven kills overall) added two service aces.
  • After dropping the second set 24-26, the Tigers responded by winning the third set highlighted by a 5-2 run with the score tied at 17 before forcing a fifth set and winning the match.
  • Freshman Emma Siron contributed a career-high 15 kills adding three blocks, while middle blocker Rachel Ziesman had a career-high seven blocks and seven kills respectively.
  • Defensively, the Jens were led by redshirt senior Jackie Storm's match-high 23 digs, plus, libero Grace Winkelmann collected 17 digs for good measure.
  • Junior Arley Anderson had 16 digs, and freshman Elinor Engel contributed seven kills and three blocks on the night.
 
Series History
  • Missouri Western: Heading into Tuesday night, the Jens hold a 97-8 advantage all-time against Missouri Western dating back to the 1978 season including a 3-0 (25-19, 25-22, 25-10) sweep of the Griffons inside MWSU Fieldhouse earlier this season. In Warrensburg, UCM holds a 44-3 all-time lead including a 3-0 (25-21, 25-18, 25-15) sweep in October of 2022. In the 3-0 victory last season, outside hitter Kersti Nix led the Jens with a match-high 16 kills on 32 swings (.500 hitting percentage) while freshman Rachel Ziesman added 10 kills and five blocks overall. Defensively, UCM was led by redshirt freshman Grace Winkelmann's match-high 17 digs respectively.
 
Jens by the Numbers
  • Central Missouri is averaging 16.3 digs, 13.5 kills (fourth-most in the MIAA), 12.3 assists (fourth-best in the conference), 2.36 blocks (best in the MIAA) and 1.3 service aces per set through nineteen matches this season.
  • Setter Olivia Olson leads the Jens with 12 double-doubles on the year collecting a MIAA-leading 811 assists averaging 10.53 assists per set (ranks second in the MIAA) while having the second-most digs (201) and third in blocks (56) on the team.
  • Redshirt senior Kersti Nix leads UCM with 271 kills (second in the MIAA) on the season averaging 3.52 kills per set (second-most in the conference) while averaging 3.85 points per set (ranks second in the MIAA) and has the second-most double-doubles on the team with four.
  • Middle Blocker Grace Southern's 72 blocks leads UCM averaging 1.24 per set (best in the conference) and hitting percentage at .303 (sixth in the MIAA). Southern is third on the team in kills with 141 (2.43 kills per set) and points with 188.5 (3.25 points per set).
  • Redshirt sophomore Grace Winklemann leads the Jens with 287 digs on the year averaging 3.73 digs per set (ninth in the MIAA) and has collected double-digit digs in 18 consecutive matches including four with 20 or more.
