  • Sixth-ranked Central Missouri Jennies soccer (2-0) continues its 2022 season with a pair of road matches in Michigan Friday, Sept. 2, and Sunday, Sept. 4. UCM is slated to face preseason No. 1-ranked and defending NCAA-II National Champion Grand Valley State (2-0) Friday at 6 p.m. CT in Allendale prior to taking on Davenport (0-1-1) at 11 a.m. CT Sunday in Caledonia. 
  • The Jennies are coming off a pair of season-opening home victories Aug. 25 and 27 at the South Recreation Complex. Central Missouri downed SWOSU, 3-2, on the 25th and Oklahoma Baptist, 3-1, on the 27th. 
  • Through two matches, redshirt sophomore Caroline Cole leads UCM with three goals for six points and eight shots on goal on 10 total shot attempts for a .800 shots on goal percentage. Macy Ruffalo, Madilyn Hamline and Kate Hermelink each have one goal for two points, while Julia Kristensen has two assists and Ashleigh Martin and Molly Ricker each have one assist. 
  • Cole leads the MIAA in goals, points and shots on goal while Kristensen paces the conference in assists with two matches elapsed. 
  • In goal for UCM, sophomore Sydney Beck is 2-0 with four saves and three goals-allowed for a 1.50 goals-against average (GAA) in 180:00. 
  • Central Missouri is ranked preseason No. 6 in the United Soccer Coaches Division II Poll and is the preseason favorite in the MIAA Preseason Coaches' Poll.

  • Jennies soccer was voted preseason No. 1 in the MIAA Preseason Coaches' Poll for the 2022 season.
  • UCM received 121 points and 11 of 12 possible first-place votes in the poll.
MIAA Weekly Honors
  • Caroline Cole was voted the first MIAA Women's Soccer Offensive Athlete of the Week for the 2022 season for her performance on the soccer pitch during the week of Aug. 21-28.
  • Cole, a forward who hails from Columbia, Mo., netted three goals for six points in UCM's two wins over SWOSU and Oklahoma Baptist Aug. 25 and 27. Eight of her 10 shots on the week were on-goal for an impressive .800 shots on goal percentage. 
  • In Central Missouri's 3-2 victory vs. SWOSU, Cole scored the game-tying goal in the 71st minute off an Ashleigh Martin assist before bending a corner kick into the back of the net in the 73rd minute for her second goal of the match. 
  • In UCM's 3-1 triumph over Oklahoma Baptist, she scored the first goal of the contest in the 23rd minute. 
Home Cookin'
  • Dating back to the 2016 season, the Jennies are 61-3-1 at the South Recreation Complex. During that span, UCM has surrendered just 44 goals.
  • All-time at the South Recreation Complex, UCM is 201-34-9 under head coach Lewis Theobald and 138-13-8 in overall program history. The Jennies have compiled undefeated home records five times.
Welcome to the 'Burg! Series History
  • Grand Valley State: Friday's showdown at Grand Valley State will mark the eighth meeting in the all-time series dating back to 2014. The Lakers lead the series, 5-1-1 and are 2-0-0 in Allendale, Mich., vs. UCM. Last season, Central Missouri and GVSU met in the NCAA-II National Quarterfinals in Allendale, with Grand Valley State posting a 1-0 win. 
  • Davenport: Sunday's match at Davenport will be the first meeting between the Jennies and the Panthers. 
Head Coach Lewis Theobald
Central Missouri women's soccer head coach Lewis Theobald, now in his 15th year, has transformed the Jennies Soccer program into one of the premier programs not only in the MIAA, but in all of NCAA Division II.

The 10-time MIAA and five-time region Coach of the Year, has an impressive 258-39-21 record. He recorded more wins in his first three seasons than any other coach in school history and is the all-time winningest coach in Jennies soccer history. He brought home the program's first ever National Championship in the 2017 season.

Theobald enters the 2022 season as the winningest active coach in Division II women's soccer with an .843 winning percentage, among coaches with at least five years on the sidelines. He also is the all-time D-II leader among coaches with at least 10 years and is sixth all-time in all NCAA Divisions.  

During his tenure, Theobald has coached 19 All-Americans and 119 All-MIAA honorees.

A 1999 graduate of the University of Kansas, Theobald received his bachelor's degree in education with a concentration in physical education.

On the Horizon
UCM returns home to the South Recreation Complex for a non-conference contest vs. Missouri Southern Friday, Sept. 9, at 7 p.m. before traveling to Northwest Missouri in Maryville, Mo., for a non-conference tilt Sunday, Sept. 11, at 1 p.m.
