Madilyn Hamline and
Macy Ruffalo scored goals as No. 6-ranked Central Missouri Jennies soccer stampeded past the Oklahoma Baptist Bison, 3-1, on a warm Saturday, Aug. 27, at the South Recreation Complex.
The Jennies (2-0) are scheduled to travel to Allendale, Mich., for a showdown at No. 1-ranked and defending National Champion Grand Valley State Friday, Sept. 2, at 6 p.m.
A redshirt sophomore from Columbia, Mo., Cole gave UCM a 1-0 lead after belting a shot to the middle of the net in the 23rd minute. It was her third goal of the young 2022 season.
Oklahoma Baptist (0-2) answered, however, and leveled the contest, 1-1, with a goal in the 35th minute.
Hamline, a redshirt freshman from Liberty, Mo., tallied her first goal in the Red and Black in the 68th minute, powering a pass from
Molly Ricker into the left side of the goal, putting the Jennies back in front, 2-1.
Ruffalo, a redshirt sophomore from Olathe, Kan., put an exclamation mark on the Central Missouri victory, hammering a
Julia Kristensen feed home for her first goal of 2022 and upping the UCM lead to 3-1.
For the match, the Jennies outshot the Bison, 15-6, including a 6-1 advantage in shots on goal.
Central Missouri also bested the visitors in corner kicks, 4-2.
Goalkeeper
Sydney Beck improved to 2-0 between the posts on the season after going the full 90 minutes and giving up one goal.
Alanna Bloomingdale scored the Bison's lone goal, while Oklahoma Baptist goalkeeper Mia Pendleton (0-2) suffered the loss after making three saves but allowing three goals.
