WARRENSBURG, Mo. -– Cameron Hunter and
Ja' Cor Nelson each scored 23 points, to lead the Central Missouri Mules basketball team to a 75-74 victory over the Missouri Southern Lions Saturday, Feb. 5, at the Multipurpose Building.
The Mules (10-9, 7-8 MIAA) are scheduled to host Pittsburg State Monday, Feb. 7, at 7:30 p.m.
Hunter, a redshirt senior from Olathe, Kan., scored 23 points on a 4-of-9 shooting performance, including a 3-for-6 showing from three-point range, and a 12-of-14 performance at the free-throw line.
Nelson netted his 23 points on 9-of-15 shooting and added a team-best six rebounds.
UCM shot 46 percent (23-of-50) from the floor, 52 percent (9-of-17) from beyond-the-arc and were 20-of-27 at the free-throw line (74 percent) for the game.
The Lions (11-9, 8-6 MIAA) edged Central Missouri on the glass, 36-30, but UCM outscored Missouri Western vin the paint, 28-26, and off turnovers, 13-7.
Stan Scott led Missouri Southern with 18 points while RJ Smith posted a double-double with 13 points and a game-best 10 rebounds.
