WARRENSBURG, Mo. – Darick Lapaglia upset McKendree wrestler Joseph Champagne at 157 pounds and
Collin Braun pinned the Bearcats' Julian Ramirez at 285 pounds, but it wasn't enough, as fifth-ranked McKendree turned back the Central Missouri Mules, 40-10, in a dual meet Thursday, Feb. 10, inside the Multipurpose Building.
The Mules (5-8, 1-2 MIAA) are scheduled to host Fort Hays State for a 1 p.m. MIAA dual Sunday, Feb. 13, for Senior Day.
Lapaglia, a redshirt-junior from Blue Springs, Mo., used a first-period takedown and three-point near-fall to gain a 5-0 lead over Champagne and held on for the 13-2 major decision triumph. He improved to 12-6 on the season with the win.
Braun, a senior from Warrensburg, improved to 4-2 on the season with his pin of Ramirez.
The Bearcats (13-1, 5-0 GLVC) controlled the dual, winning three matches by fall, one by tech fall, two via decision and one via forfeit.
