SCENE SETTER
  • University of Central Missouri Mules football (3-6, 3-6 MIAA) is scheduled to welcome the Missouri Western State University Griffons (4-5, 4-5 MIAA) to Walton Stadium/Kennedy Field for the final home game of the season Saturday, Nov. 5, at 1 p.m.
  • Saturday's game is Senior Day and Salute to Veterans Day. All veterans and their family members will receive FREE admission to the game with a valid ID. Mules football will honor its seniors prior to the game at 12:35 p.m.
  • The Mules are coming off a 61-14 victory over Lincoln Oct. 29 in Warrensburg while the Griffons took down Missouri Southern in St. Joseph the same day, 31-27.
  • 2022 marks the 125th season in Mules football history.
  • In the MIAA Football Preseason Polls, UCM was picked in a tie for seventh in the coaches' poll and ninth in the media poll. Lincoln was picked last in both polls.

  • Offense: With nine games in the books, the Mules are paced offensively by redshirt sophomore quarterback Cedric Case (196-of-294 with 7 INT, 2158 yds, 17 TD, 78 long, 239.8 yds/game, 197 yds rushing, 2 rushing TD), redshirt senior running back Xavier Jackson (39 catches, 447 yds, 1 TD, 55 long, 49.7 receiving yds/game, 89 carries, 287 net yds, 4 TD, 20 long, 31.9 yds/game) and redshirt junior receiver Arkell Smith (42 catches, 602 yds, 7 TD, 78 long, 66.9 yds/game).
  • Defense: Through nine games, UCM is paced defensively by redshirt sophomore defensive back Noah Blair (56 tackles [35 unassisted/21 assisted], 2 TFL/3 yds, 3 INT/83 yds, 4 breakup), redshirt senior linebacker Kingsley Ayeni, IV (43 tackles [22 unassisted, 21 assisted], 2 TFL/6 yds, 2 breakup) and redshirt junior defensive back Diondre Glover (1 INT/0 yds, 11 breakup).
  • Special Teams: Redshirt junior kicker Sam Knowlton is 6-for-8 in field goals converted, hitting a season-long 42-yarder at Pittsburg State...Redshirt freshman punter Ethan Brown has 41 punts for 1,726 yards with an average distance of 42.1 yards and a long of 58. He has placed 10 punts inside the 20-yard line and has five punts of at least 50 yards.
SERIES HISTORY
  • Saturday's home finale against the Griffons will mark the 38th meeting in the all-time series dating back to 1975. The series is tied, 18-18-1. Last season, Missouri Western posted a 59-28 win over UCM in St. Joseph, Mo.
LAST TIME OUT FOR THE MULES
  • Cedric Case threw for 246 yards with six touchdown passes and Trevor Twehous had 100 receiving yards with a pair of TDs leading the Central Missouri Mules football team to a 61-14 rout of the Lincoln Blue Tigers Saturday, Oct. 29, at Walton Stadium/Kennedy Field.
  • Case, a redshirt sophomore quarterback from Lincoln, Neb., went a perfect 16-for-16 with no interceptions and a long of 52 for his 246 passing yards and added 54 rushing yards, pacing the UCM offense. His performance set a UCM single-game record for highest NCAA passing efficiency (since 1988).
  • Twehous had three catches, including a 52-yard touchdown pass from Case in the second quarter, for his career-high 100 receiving yards while Avian Thomas rushed for a game-high 93 yards on 16 carries with a touchdown.
  • Defensively for Central Missouri, Lane West had a 25-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown while Keshawn Howell added a 33-yard fumble recovery and forced fumble. Clay Griffin also forced a fumble, and Cooper Crane tallied six tackles, rounding out the Mules' defensive leaders in the victory.
  • UCM outgained Lincoln (0-9, 0-9 MIAA) for the game, 557-234, including a 225-54 advantage in rushing yards and 332-180 edge in passing yards. The Mules' 557 yards of total offense is a season high.
  • Central Missouri also won both the turnover battle, 2-0, and time-of-possession, 36:48 to 23:12, with the Blue Tigers.
LAST TIME OUT VS. MISSOURI WESTERN
  • Missouri Western outscored Central Missouri Mules football, 28-0, in the fourth quarter to hand the Mules a 59-28 loss Saturday, Nov. 6, 2021, at Craig Field at Spratt Memorial Stadium.
  • Logan Twehous went 25-of-40 for 400 yards and had four touchdown passes, while Cameron Saunders posted 189 receiving yards on six receptions, leading the Mules in the game.
  • Missouri Western posted 687 yards of total offense, including 343 yards rushing and 344 yards passing, while holding Central Missouri to just 66 yards rushing and 466 yards of total offense in the contest.
  • Reagan Jones went 17-for-24 for 324 yards, and Brandon Hall rushed for 124 yards with two touchdowns on 13 carries, pacing the Griffons.
THE MULES IN MIAA PLAY
  • UCM is 3-6 in MIAA action entering Saturday's contest vs. Missouri Western.
  • Through nine games, the Mules rank second in the conference in interceptions with nine for 88 yards.
  • Noah Blair is tied for the MIAA lead with three interceptions for 83 yards entering Saturday.
  • Diondre Glover leads the MIAA in pass breakups through nine games with 11.
  • Cedric Case is third in the conference in passing with 2,158 yards through nine games. He is also third in total offense with 2,355 yards and 261.7 yards per game.
  • Arkell Smith is fifth in receiving through nine contests with 602 yards on 42 catches. He is averaging 66.9 yards through the air per game.

A TRADITION OF EXCELLENCE IN ATHLETICS
