WARRENSBURG, Mo. – Four players scored in double figures as No. 19-ranked Central Missouri Jennies basketball crushed the Evangel Valor, 102-49, in the 2022-23 home opener Wednesday night, Nov. 16, inside the Multipurpose Building.
The Jennies (3-0) are scheduled to open MIAA play Thursday, Dec. 1, at 5:30 p.m. against Central Oklahoma in Warrensburg.
The 102 points scored marked the most points in a single game for UCM since a 108-45 victory over Johnson & Wales on Nov. 26, 2016.
Brooke Littrell posted her first double-double of the season with 16 points and 11 rebounds while
Olivia Nelson also netted 16 points while compiling six assists, pacing the sizzling UCM offense. Littrell shot 62 percent from the floor, making eight out of 13 shots, and Nelson was 6-for-9 from the field and went 4-of-6 from three-point range for 67 percent.
Kade Hackerott scored 13 points on 50 percent shooting, while
Ashley Tull and
Cierra Smith each posted 10 points, wrapping up the Jens in double figures. Tull blocked a game-best three shots, and
Lauren Frost dished out a game and career-high nine assists and had four steals.
Central Missouri shot a blistering 60 percent from the field for the contest, going 44-of-73, and were 9-of-23 from downtown for 39 percent. UCM outrebounded Evangel, 49-33, and scored 30 points off 23 Valor turnovers. The Jennies also dominated on the inside, outscoring Evangel in the paint, 64-22, and had seven blocks and 14 steals in the triumph.Â
Sarah Lwambo netted 12 points on 6-of-9 shooting, pacing the Valor (0-4) for the game.
